Job Description

Summary We are seeking a reliable and flexible individual to join our transportation team as a Substitute Bus Driver at Snyder Maintenance/Transportation. This position is essential in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of students and other passengers as needed. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to adapt to varying schedules and routes. Responsibilities Operate a school bus or other transportation vehicle in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations. Transport students, staff, and other passengers to and from designated locations according to established schedules. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and proper functioning of the bus. Maintain a clean and organized bus interior and exterior. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding transportation schedules and safety protocols. Manage student behavior on the bus and enforce safety rules. Report any accidents, incidents, or mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel immediately. Assist in training new bus drivers as needed. Be available to fill in for regular drivers on short notice, including mornings, afternoons, and special event transportation. Attend training sessions and meetings as required to stay updated on policies and safety procedures. Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport. Clean driving record with no major violations. Previous experience driving a bus or similar vehicle preferred, but not required. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to changing schedules. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in transportation. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in emergency situations. Physical ability to assist students with boarding and disembarking from the bus as needed.
