This dual-role position offers the opportunity to showcase culinary skills while ensuring safe and reliable transportation for our community. As a Cook/Bus Driver, you will prepare nutritious, delicious meals that meet dietary standards and serve as the friendly face behind the wheel, transporting our students to and from the local elementary schools. This role is perfect for motivated individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy food preparation, and possess excellent driving skills. Your enthusiasm and professionalism will directly contribute to creating a positive experience for those we serve. Duties Prepare and cook a variety of meals, adhering strictly to menu plans, dietary guidelines, and recipe specifications. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, braising pans, poaching devices, and food prep tools. Maintain food safety standards by following sanitizing procedures, proper food handling practices, and sanitation protocols to ensure a clean and safe kitchen environment. Assist with menu planning based on nutritional requirements to create balanced meal options. Transport safely to and from Elementary school while maintaining safety and obeying all traffic laws and safety regulations. Conduct routine vehicle inspections before trips to ensure safety and proper functioning of the bus or transportation vehicle. Support food production activities during high-volume meal service periods, ensuring timely delivery of quality meals. Maintain Bus CSR records while transporting students. Collaborate with dietary department staff to meet specific dietary needs such as gluten-free, low-sodium, or specialized diets. Experience Previous experience working in a food service environment such as a restaurant, catering operation, or preschool facility is highly preferred. Familiarity with dietary aide responsibilities including menu planning and food preparation is advantageous. Demonstrated knowledge of food safety management practices and sanitizing procedures within commercial kitchens or food industry settings. Proven ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. Experience in high-volume food production or fine dining environments that require precise recipe adherence and presentation skills. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience operating passenger vehicles or buses is preferred. Strong knife skills and culinary expertise in grilling, braising, poaching, and other cooking techniques necessary for diverse meal preparation.
