ABOUT AEL
Advanced Environmental Laboratories, Inc. (AEL) is Florida's largest environmental laboratory network and one of the top environmental lab employers in the country. Our teams support public agencies, engineering firms, and industrial clients with testing for drinking water, wastewater, hazardous waste, landfill, RCRA, CERCLA, and property assessment projects.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS AEL
couriers help protect sample integrity and client confidence by moving environmental samples, kits, and supplies safely, accurately, and on time. This is a route-driving role for someone who takes pride in professionalism, reliability, and doing the details right when no one is watching.
WHO WILL SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE
You are consistently on time and communicate early when something changes.
You are comfortable being the face of the company with clients.
You can follow written procedures every time, even on a busy route.
You keep records, mileage, and documentation accurate without reminders.
You drive safely and remain calm when traffic, weather, or route changes create pressure.
THIS MAY NOT BE THE RIGHT FIT
IF...
You prefer casual driving work with minimal accountability or documentation.
You are frequently late, hard to reach, or wait until the last minute to report problems.
You are uncomfortable with background checks, drug testing, safe-driving expectations, or client-facing standards.
You do not want to handle regulated samples, hazardous materials, or strict chain-of-custody procedures.
You prefer a role where routes, priorities, and schedules never change.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Pick up and deliver laboratory sample kits, samples, supplies, and related materials promptly and professionally.
Follow sample transport procedures, chain-of-custody expectations, hazardous material handling instructions, and AEL driver policies.
Plan routes for safe, efficient service while meeting client needs and communicating delays or issues early.
Complete documentation for travel, client visits, mileage, gasoline, samples, and vehicle-related needs accurately.
Maintain the assigned vehicle in a clean, safe, professional condition and report maintenance needs promptly.
Represent AEL professionally with clients and serve as a communication link between clients, couriers, lab leads, and sample receiving.
Assist with sample receiving and kit preparation after routes as needed.
Maintain a professional appearance with AEL-provided shirt/hat when required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma required; some college preferred.
Valid state-issued driver's license and clean driving record.
Three years of driving experience preferred.
Ability to pass required background check and drug test.
U.S. work authorization required.
Punctual, dependable, safety-minded, and comfortable driving for extended periods, up to 8 hours per day when needed.
Customer service mindset and professional communication skills.
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and meet the physical requirements of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.
WHY RELIABILITY IS NON-NEGOTIABLE
This is not only a driving job. Couriers handle time-sensitive environmental samples and client-facing service obligations. Late pickups, inaccurate paperwork, unsafe driving, or poor communication can affect sample integrity, client commitments, and laboratory operations. Successful couriers treat every route, record, and client interaction as part of AEL's quality system.
SCHEDULE AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Primary schedule: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, up to 35 hours per week, based on operational need.
AEL laboratory business hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; operational coverage may include 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Friday and occasional weekend or holiday work when needed.
Work may include sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, using hands, driving for long periods, and regular lifting/moving up to 40 pounds.
HOW TO APPLY
Submit your resume through Indeed.
A brief cover letter is strongly encouraged, especially if it explains your driving, client service, route, logistics, or regulated-work experience.
Complete the Indeed evaluations when sent. Completion helps us evaluate your fit for the role.
