SUPERVISORY AIRCRAFT PILOT
-Title 32, GS-2181-14, you will function as the commander of an AASF. The position supervises between 3 and 12 substantive General Schedule (GS) employees and a large (more than 30) wage grade work force. The GS workforce includes least 2 fulltime GS-13 pilots who instruct and evalue flying in advanced transport helicopters or advanced instrument flight techniques or instruct instructors in methods of instruction or any combinion for least 50% of their work time.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manages and directs the activities and functions of the AASF in support of the ste or nional aviion training missions which includes flight operions; instructing courses on flight operions proficiency training of aviors and crewmembers; qualificion training of aviors and crewmembers; aircraft mechanics; aviion safety; and the organizional, direct support, and limited general support maintenance of all assigned aircraft. 2. Plans work to be accomplished by the organizion which consists of 3 to 12 employees engaged in substantive work and additional wage grade employees. Sets priorities and prepares schedules for completion of work. Assigns work to subordine units based on priorities, selective considerion of difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. 3. Oversees the training operions of assigned or tached aircrew members through a subordine supervisor. Manages and directs the standardizion, currency, proficiency, safety operions, logistics and maintenance programs of the facility. Standardizes methods and procedures of flight instruction and flight proficiency for the facility and may fly with flight instructors, unit instructor pilots, and assigned aviors to assure the validity of methods and procedures employed and the conformance to Aircrew Training Manual requirements. 4. Oversees the aviion maintenance functions through a subordine Logistics Management Officer and ensures maintenance of assigned and supported aircraft in accordance with established procedures. GENERAL EXPERIENCE
: Eligibility requirements for Dual Stus technician positions in this occupion are based on the candide's possession of Federal Aviion Administrion pilot certifices -OR- approprie military certificions, military rings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment, and the required competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities).
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: To qualify for the
GS-2181-14
level you must have least 36 months working experiences in civilian aviion programs; or, military service aviion programs (active duty or reserve components); or, in the Army Nional Guard Aviion Support facilities. Qualificion competencies are determined by three factors: The aircraft opered; the nure and purpose of assignments; and, the degree of hazard. Experienced in piloting and instructing pilot skills in one or more of the following main-frame/military aircraft: Fixed-wing or rotary wing or. Experienced in reading and applying mission tasks, intelligence reports, and weher informion. Experienced in supervising and conducting mission planning, mission preparions, filing flight plans, and conducting crew briefings. Experienced in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, equipment assessments, and mission manning. Experienced in opering aircraft controls and equipment. Experienced in performing and supervising the work procedures involved in navigion and search and rescue operions. Experienced in conducting and supervising crew member training on simple to complex mission specific tasks. Experienced in developing plans and policies, monitoring operions, and briefing commanders. Experienced in flight theory, air navigion, meteorology, flying directives, aircraft opering procedures, and mission tactics. Experienced in planning and preparing for missions; and, experienced in piloting and instructing others in piloting specific air-frame/military aircraft. Experienced in various piloting administrive tasks performed in support of Army Nional Guard aviion programs. Experienced in aviion unit quality control management programs. Experienced in the unit flying and ground safety programs in accordance with Department of the Army, Nional Guard Bureau, and Occupional Safety and Health Administrion directives. Experienced in applying directives, regulions, accident reports, safety da, and local opering conditions to determine unit safety program requirements. Experienced in flying operions and coordining with approprie agencies to ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulions and programs. Experienced in traditional "stick and rudder" type controls for piloting aircraft direction, altitude, and speed. Experienced in visual flight-rule type flying and aircraft instrument flying. Experienced in flying simuled "real world" comb and non-comb missions and terrain. Experienced in planning, scheduling, and conducting training flights through Federal Aviion Administrion controlled nional airspace. Experienced in applying operional directives, training directives, instructions, standard opering procedures, and special instructions of Nional Guard Bureau, United Stes Army, and gaining commands. Experienced in working independently to plan and perform work assignments. Experienced in completing safe and efficient mission support through the use of Risk Management. Experienced in performing aviion duties such as, cancelling flying activities; diverting aircraft; dicting mission requirements; approving specific activities; coordining for airport or airspace utilizion with FAA; and directing emergency actions th involved unit support agencies. Experienced in using applicable Army aviion regulions, policies, requirements and standards, skills and practices; and, the applicion of instructional techniques to the training of other pilots in the Army Nional Guard flying facilities. Experienced in conducting particular comb or non-comb training missions and flying specific main-frame aircraft in comb tactics, performing tactical remote site evaluions, performing landings on remote sites, providing ground and flight training, and conducting night-vision operions or instructions. Experienced in standardizion and evaluion programs, written ground examinions, emergency procedures, and aircrew performance standards in accordance with applicable Army regulions, directives, and Federal Aviion Administrion certificion requirements.
