Contract Mail Delivery Driver (1099) - Oroville, WA Okanogan Valley Transportation LLC is seeking a dependable, self-motivated independent contractor to operate an established USPS Contract Delivery Service route based in Oroville, Washington. This is a long-term 1099 independent-contractor opportunity requiring reliable service six days per week. Compensation $297.03 per completed scheduled trip — approximately $90,000 annually Compensation is based on completion of scheduled route service and is not hourly. The contractor is responsible for their own taxes and vehicle-related operating expenses. Schedule Monday through Saturday Sundays and government holidays off Morning start Six-day-per-week commitment required Daily completion time may vary based on mail and parcel volume, weather, and operating conditions.

Scope of Work Responsibilities include:

Sorting and casing mail and packages into delivery sequence Loading the delivery vehicle Completing the established USPS delivery route Delivering mail and parcels to customers Collecting outgoing mail and packages Using USPS scanning equipment and following required delivery procedures Handling parcels weighing up to 70 lbs. Dismounting as required to deliver parcels that do not fit in the mailbox to residences within ½ mile of the mailbox, and to complete delivery of accountable mail requiring a signature Reliability, organization, and the ability to work independently are essential. Vehicle Requirements The contractor is responsible for providing and maintaining a dependable vehicle suitable for USPS contract delivery. The USPS contract specifies a minimum of 120 cubic feet of usable load space . Applicants who do not currently own a qualifying vehicle may still apply if they are willing and able to obtain an acceptable vehicle before beginning independent route service. All-wheel drive or four-wheel drive is strongly preferred due to rural roads and winter conditions. The contractor is responsible for vehicle fuel, maintenance, repairs, registration, and required insurance.

Qualifications Applicants must:

Be highly reliable and self-motivated Be comfortable working independently Be able to commit to six-day-per-week service Have a valid driver's license and at least two years of driving experience Be comfortable driving rural roads in varying weather conditions Be able to safely handle mail and parcels associated with route delivery Maintain a professional attitude when interacting with USPS personnel and customers Be able to successfully complete applicable USPS background, suitability, security-clearance, and driving-record requirements USPS clearance is required before performing independent route service. The screening process includes a background investigation and review of the applicant's driving record. Felony convictions, DUI history, serious driving violations, or other disqualifying criminal or driving-history issues may affect USPS eligibility, with final suitability determined by the Postal Service. Prior delivery-route experience is helpful but not required. Independent Contractor Arrangement This opportunity is structured as a 1099 independent-contractor relationship. The contractor provides their own vehicle and is responsible for the associated operating expenses. Route-specific training will be provided before the selected contractor assumes independent responsibility for the route.
