Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Local Captain to lead water transportation operations within our maritime fleet. This vital role involves overseeing vessel handling, crew management, safety compliance, and navigation to ensure smooth, efficient, and safe water transport services. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in maritime safety procedures, vessel management, and team leadership, with a passion for delivering exceptional service on the water. As a Local Captain, you will be the key driver of operational excellence and safety standards in our water transportation industry operations. Responsibilities Operate vessels safely and efficiently, ensuring adherence to all US Coast Guard (USCG) regulations and maritime safety procedures. Manage and coordinate crew members, fostering effective communication and teamwork to optimize vessel performance. Conduct routine vessel inspections, maintenance checks, and repairs to ensure water transportation equipment remains in top condition. Navigate using marine navigation systems and maritime piloting techniques to reach destinations accurately and safely. Oversee rigging, heavy lifting, and manual handling tasks required for cargo loading/unloading and vessel operations. Implement water transportation industry best practices for vessel management, safety protocols, and crew supervision. Maintain detailed logs of vessel activities, safety inspections, maintenance records, and incident reports to ensure compliance and operational transparency. Qualifications Proven experience in the water transportation industry with strong knowledge of vessel handling and marine navigation systems. Extensive background in maritime safety procedures, USCG regulations, and vessel maintenance practices. Demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively as a ship supervisor or captain within a maritime setting. Hands-on experience with rigging, heavy lifting, manual handling, and water transportation equipment maintenance. Military experience related to maritime operations or leadership is highly desirable. Mechanical knowledge combined with management skills to oversee vessel upkeep and crew performance. Excellent communication skills for maritime crew coordination and safety briefings.
