Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a reliable and experienced Log Truck Driver to operate heavy-duty trucks in transporting logs and forestry products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial driving, route management, and safe handling of various truck types. This role requires attention to safety protocols, efficient route planning, and the ability to manage load securement for long-distance deliveries. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a focus on safety and professionalism. Duties Operate log trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, dump trucks, tanker trucks, refrigerated trailers, and roll-off trucks. Load and unload logs and freight safely using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or manual methods. Manage route driving efficiently while adhering to schedules and safety regulations. Secure loads properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with transportation laws. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance reports. Follow all federal, state, and company safety policies during operations. Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding delivery schedules or any issues encountered on the road. Skills Proven experience in truck driving, especially with tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tanker trucks, or refrigerated trailers. Strong knowledge of route planning and delivery logistics. Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles proficiently. Experience with freight handling, load & unload procedures, and securing cargo safely. Familiarity with forklift operation is a plus for loading/unloading freight. Excellent driving record with a focus on safety compliance. Ability to handle long hours on the road while maintaining alertness and professionalism. Good communication skills for coordination with dispatchers and clients. This position requires candidates to possess or be willing to obtain necessary commercial driver's licenses (CDL) relevant to the truck types operated. Prior experience with various truck configurations such as dump trucks or roll-off trucks is advantageous for success in this role.
