Job Description

Mel's Events is growing, and we're hiring experienced box truck drivers who can also help build and break down event setups. You'll take loaded trucks to venues, unload equipment, work alongside the crew to set up events, and return for teardown and pickup. This role combines skilled commercial vehicle driving with demanding physical work. Safe driving, reliable attendance, and careful handling of equipment are essential. Responsibilities Safely drive box trucks up to 26 feet long to and from event locations. Complete vehicle checks before trips, verify that loads are secure, and report vehicle concerns promptly. Navigate venue entrances, loading areas, tight spaces, and backing situations with attention to truck height and clearance. Use a spotter when needed. Unload and set up dance floors, tables, chairs, photo booths, and other rental equipment according to event instructions. Return for teardown, count equipment, and reload trucks safely and efficiently. Protect venue floors and property, and handle rental equipment carefully throughout each job. Communicate professionally with clients, venue staff, and the office about arrival times, access issues, and setup needs. Return equipment to the storage location and assist with unloading and reporting missing or damaged items. Requirements Prior experience driving large box trucks or comparable commercial vehicles is required, including confident backing, turning, and parking. A valid driver's license appropriate for the assigned vehicles and a driving record that meets company insurance requirements. Ability to perform repeated lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, and extended standing, with or without reasonable accommodation. Use team lifting and moving equipment for heavy or bulky items. Availability for early morning deliveries, late night pickups, and weekend events. Dependability, a professional attitude, and the ability to follow instructions and work with a crew. Comfort working indoors and outdoors, including in Florida heat. Event setup, moving, furniture delivery, equipment installation, or trailer towing experience is a plus. Schedule Hours and shift lengths vary with booked events. Some pickups take place after midnight. Include your early morning, late night, and weekend availability when applying. How to Apply Apply through Indeed with your driving and work history. Tell us the largest vehicles you have driven, how regularly you drove them, and your availability.
