Job Summary Join our dedicated waste management team as a Trash Collector and play a vital role in maintaining clean, healthy communities. In this energetic and essential position, you will operate various types of garbage trucks, including front loader, rear loader, and roll-off trucks, to collect and transport waste efficiently and safely. Duties Operate different types of waste collection trucks such as front loader, rear loader, and roll-off trucks in compliance with all safety protocols and traffic laws Load and unload waste materials from residential, commercial, or industrial sites using mechanical equipment like front-end loaders or manual methods Drive route schedules while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and state transportation laws Ensure safe handling of hazardous materials regulations when applicable during waste collection processes Perform routine inspections of trucks for mechanical issues, air brake functionality, and overall safety compliance before and after shifts Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding route progress, safety concerns, or operational issues Maintain accurate logs of waste collected, route completion times, and vehicle inspections for accountability and reporting purposes Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with endorsements for air brake systems and manual transmission operation preferred Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially with front loader, rear loader, or roll-off trucks Strong knowledge of traffic laws, DOT regulations, hazardous materials handling, and solid waste management practices Ability to perform heavy lifting consistently while following proper ergonomic techniques Demonstrated safety protocol adherence in outdoor work environments with exposure to varying weather conditions Mechanical knowledge to identify basic truck issues and assist with routine maintenance or repairs when necessary Excellent customer service skills to interact professionally with residents or business clients during collection activities Prior experience in route driving or delivery driver roles is highly desirable Embark on a rewarding career that keeps communities clean while enjoying the benefits of outdoor work in a supportive environment.
