Job Description

Overview NewTerra Compost is looking to bring on a new team member that is interested in diverting food residuals from the landfill. This position will be part of the collection operations. Applicants do not need any prior experience in composting, but do need to have the desire to learn more and become an ambassador for sustainability and composting. This is hands-on, physical work involving food scraps and organic waste. Employees should be comfortable working around raw food waste, spoiled materials, odors, liquids, and other messy conditions that are a normal part of compost collection.
Responsibilities:
Drive the assigned vehicle safely along designated routes in
GA/TN/AL
to collect food residuals. Prepare the vehicle for the current day's route, including loading supplies and performing safety checks. Ensure materials are collected promptly and according to required safety and quality standards. Safely lift, carry, and empty five-gallon buckets of food residuals into the vehicle. Clean bins and buckets. Communicate to customers and the public the purpose behind composting food residuals. Use handheld electronic devices to navigate routes, take notes, document pickups, and complete reports. Interact respectfully and professionally with any person encountered during the collection route. Load and unload supplies and products at the warehouse; perform additional warehouse jobs as needed. Maintain the assigned vehicle in good condition; promptly communicate mechanical concerns, fueling needs, and route issues to the owner/supervisor. Maintain a clean vehicle and supplies after each collection route. Bring a positive, team-oriented mentality to all tasks.
Requirements:
Ability to work with food scraps in all weather conditions. Ability to repeatedly lift up to 40 lbs into a truck bed. Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to pass drug screening and periodic testing. Reliable transportation to the warehouse and consistent, reliable attendance. Ability to follow safety and process procedures. Interest in learning about composting and serving as an ambassador for sustainability. (

Hours:
Full time position: 5x 8-hour days per week 7am start
Pay:
$17.00 - $19.00 per hour
