Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and dedicated driver to join our team. As a Garbage Truck Driver, you will play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the community. Operating specialized vehicles, you will be responsible for collecting and transporting waste and recyclables efficiently and safely. Your role contributes directly to the overall well-being of the community and the environment.
Garbage Truck Driver Duties and Responsibilities Vehicle Operation:
Safely operate and maneuver garbage trucks through residential and commercial areas. Adhere to established routes and schedules for waste collection.
Waste Collection:
Collect and load garbage and recyclables from designated bins and containers. Ensure proper sorting and disposal of different types of waste materials.
Safety and Compliance:
Strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations. Follow safety protocols for waste handling and disposal. Perform routine inspections and maintenance on the garbage truck.
Customer Interaction:
Provide courteous and professional interaction with residents and business owners during waste collection. Address inquiries and concerns related to waste disposal.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of daily routes, collected materials, and any incidents. Report any mechanical issues or malfunctions promptly.
Team Collaboration:
Coordinate with other team members and support staff to ensure efficient waste collection and disposal operations. Conducting pre and post-trip inspections of the vehicles Emptying containers and dumpsters using truck hydraulics, and clean trucks after completion of routes Performing minor repairs to the trucks when necessary Notifying supervisors/maintenance personnel about any major repairs needed or issues regarding the safety of the vehicles Complying with truck driving rules and regulations as well as with company policies and procedures Assist with loading and unloading items from the truck Willingness to travel Garbage Truck Driver Requirements and Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL): Possess a valid CDL with appropriate endorsements for operating a garbage truck. No record of driving violations or accidents Ability to work under varying weather conditions Ability to work safely and take pride in their work Excellent driving skills for navigating different types of roads and traffic conditions with a large, heavy vehicle. Punctuality and reliability to meet pickup schedules and maintain consistent work hours Detail-oriented to ensure all designated waste is collected and any discrepancies or irregularities are reported promptly Customer service skills to handle complaints and inquiries from residents or businesses. Good interpersonal skills for dealing with the public, and a high level of respect for the environment and community cleanliness, are also important
Driving Experience:
Proven experience in driving large vehicles, preferably garbage trucks or similar.
Physical Fitness:
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and work in varying weather conditions.
Safety Conscious:
Strong commitment to safety protocols and guidelines.
Communication Skills:
Effective communication skills for interacting with team members and the public. Attention to

Ability to follow established routes accurately and perform duties with precision.
Problem-solving Skills:
Capacity to address unexpected challenges or issues during waste collection.
Customer Service Skills:
Courteous and customer-focused approach when dealing with the public.
Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
