Overview Join our dynamic team as an Over-the-Road (OTR) Flatbed Driver and take charge of delivering freight across long-distance routes with energy and precision. In this vital role, you will operate flatbed trucks equipped for transporting a variety of cargo, including heavy equipment, building materials, and specialized freight. Your expertise will ensure timely, safe deliveries while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your driving skills and contribute to efficient logistics operations on a national scale. Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailers with flatbed configurations across OTR routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Load, secure, and unload freight using manual handling techniques and proper cargo handling procedures to prevent damage or accidents. Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems, planning optimal delivery schedules for timely arrivals. Transport various types of freight, including hazardous materials (Hazmat), dangerous goods, or specialized loads such as tanker or refrigerated trailer cargo. Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to identify maintenance needs or safety issues, maintaining compliance with safety protocols. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery status, and any unforeseen issues during transit. Ensure proper documentation of deliveries, load manifests, and compliance with all relevant regulations including hazardous materials regulations. Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record. Proven experience in truck driving, particularly in flatbed or tractor-trailer operations on over-the-road routes. Familiarity with freight handling, load & unload procedures, and truck loading/unloading techniques. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT requirements, and hazardous materials regulations for safe transportation of dangerous goods. Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and handle manual loading equipment safely. Strong understanding of route driving principles and logistics cargo handling practices. Excellent manual handling skills combined with physical stamina to manage heavy or bulky loads when necessary.
