Job Description We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Commercial Truck Driver to support our civil construction and site work operations. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient transport of aggregate, fill material, equipment, and construction materials to and from active job sites, quarries, and disposal facilities. The ideal candidate is comfortable working around heavy equipment, navigating active construction zones, and performing basic vehicle inspections and maintenance checks. This is a hands-on role requiring flexibility, reliability, and strong attention to safety protocols in a dynamic outdoor work environment. Duties and Responsibilities Operate dump trucks, tri-axles, tractor-trailers (lowboys/flatbeds), or water trucks to haul materials such as dirt, gravel, asphalt, sand, or debris Load and unload materials safely, coordinating with excavator/loader operators at pits, quarries, and job sites Transport heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, compactors) via lowboy trailer, including proper securing/chaining and load balancing Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (DOT inspection standards) and report mechanical issues promptly Maintain accurate logs of hours of service (HOS), mileage, load tickets, and delivery/pickup records Navigate active construction sites safely, following site-specific traffic control plans and spotter/flagger directions Comply with all DOT, FMCSA, and state/local trucking regulations Coordinate with dispatch, site superintendents, and foremen regarding delivery schedules and site access Perform basic truck maintenance (fluid checks, tire pressure, greasing) and keep the vehicle clean and in good working order Safely operate in adverse weather and varying site/terrain conditions Assist ground crews with material spreading, tailgate operation, or minor site tasks as needed Maintain required licensing, medical certification, and endorsements Follow all company safety policies, including PPE requirements and site-specific hazard protocols Essential Skills and Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A or CDL-B, depending on equipment) Clean driving record and current DOT medical certification Experience hauling construction materials (aggregate, dirt, asphalt) preferred Experience with lowboy/heavy equipment hauling a plus (may require specific endorsements) Working knowledge of
DOT/FMCSA
regulations and hours-of-service rules Ability to perform pre-/post-trip inspections and basic mechanical troubleshooting Familiarity with tarping, chaining, and load securement procedures Comfortable operating in and around active construction/earthwork sites Strong spatial awareness for backing, tight maneuvering, and site navigation Punctuality and reliability, with flexibility for early start times and variable schedules Good communication skills for coordinating with dispatch, crews, and equipment operators Physical ability to climb in/out of cab, handle tarps/chains, and occasionally lift 50+ lbs Basic understanding of OSHA/site safety practices Endorsements as needed (Tanker, Doubles/Triples) depending on fleet requirements
Pay:
$27.11 - $32.65 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 - 40.0 per week
