What The Role Actually Is You are both the operator and the skilled tradesman. On any given day that means: Driving a 26' box truck through New York City with confidence and precision Loading and unloading with methodical, efficient care — nothing gets damaged Wrapping, padding, and protecting high-end furniture, fine art, antiques, and specialty items Working alongside a multi-person crew as a professional, not as someone being supervised Communicating directly and professionally with teammates and sometimes clients in their homes Executing disassembly and full reassembly at the destination — beds, dining tables, everything Representing Metropolis in the field the way a premium brand deserves to be represented

What We're Looking For Non-negotiable:

Valid NY driver's license with a clean driving record — you drive a 26' truck, you need to be comfortable in it 2+ years of professional moving experience in New York City Ability to lift and carry 75+ lbs consistently throughout a full working day Punctuality that is not situational — you show up, every time, on time Strongly preferred: Experience with high-value or specialty items — fine art, pianos, antiques, custom furniture Familiarity with NYC building access requirements — COIs, freight elevators, loading dock protocols, co-op and condo rules Experience wrapping and protecting furniture to a standard that reflects the value of what you're handling Ability to read a job and adapt — you notice things other movers miss and you handle them before they become problems The type of person this is: Self-directed — you don't need to be told what needs protecting or what the client is watching Physically capable and genuinely proud of it — this is skilled labor and you treat it that way Professional in tone with clients — warm, calm, capable, not performatively chatty Someone who cares about leaving a job cleaner than they found it $25-$31/hr based on demonstrated experience — above market for the right person Overtime available — peak season generates strong weekly earnings Surcharge bonus program — when scope additions are identified and reported correctly, the crew shares in the additional revenue collected Pointman track — top performers move into lead roles with additional pay and responsibility W-2 employment — not gig, not 1099, not day labor.
