Position SummaryParaco is a family-owned energy company serving customers throughout the Northeast. The Utility Technician supports residential and commercial customers through propane delivery, equipment installation and service, tank work, and boom/crane truck operation. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and excellent customer service.
Key ResponsibilitiesSafely deliver bulk propane, motor fuel, and cylinders as needed.
Install, service, repair, and remove propane tanks, appliances, piping, and related equipment.
Perform tank installations/pickups, pump-outs, recertifications, safety checks, lockouts, re-installs, and gas odor/leak calls.
Diagnose and repair propane systems, including pumps, compressors, vaporizers, pump stations, and related components.
Build and troubleshoot pump/AutoGas stations and vapor/liquid systems.
Operate Bobtail, boom/crane trucks, trailers, and other required equipment safely.
Perform equipment diagnostics, preventive maintenance, cleaning, and parts/filter replacement.
Respond to no-heat and other emergency service calls.
Complete required vehicle inspections, safety procedures, and documentation.
Maintain clean, safe vehicles and equipment.
Follow all company policies and federal, state, local, DOT, and industry safety requirements.
Complete required CETP/PERC and company training.
Participate in a rotational on-call schedule, including weekends.
QualificationsCDL Class B with HazMat and Tanker endorsements and valid DOT medical certification.
Minimum 5 years of relevant field experience.
Safe driving record and compliance with DOT requirements.
Strong mechanical, troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
Experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
Knowledge of LP/natural gas piping, propane systems, and tank installations.
Ability to install propane tanks up to 1,000 gallons (above or underground) and properly size/install propane lines up to 2 inches.
Plumbing and/or appliance installation and repair experience preferred.
Ability to safely operate boom/crane trucks and related equipment.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Ability to regularly lift 50-75 lbs., pull delivery hose up to 175 ft., and perform physical work including bending, climbing, reaching, stooping, and twisting.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and driving conditions.
Dependable, proactive, resourceful, and customer-focused with strong interpersonal skills.
