The position is intended to provide flexible assistance to schools, district administration, maintenance/facilities, and other district programs based on operational needs. A primary responsibility of the position is the safe transportation of students in a district-approved vehicle, including regularly scheduled transportation to educational programs and activities. When not providing student transportation, the employee performs general district support duties, including deliveries, pickup and drop-off of vehicles, equipment, supplies, or materials; filing and records organization; basic clerical tasks; student supervision; and other duties that support efficient district operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Transportation Safely transports students to and from district-approved educational programs, activities, work-based learning opportunities, and other authorized locations. Operates district vehicles in compliance with Oregon Department of Education requirements, applicable laws, district policies, and established safety procedures. Completes required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Maintains accurate transportation, mileage, student, and vehicle records as required. Ensures students follow appropriate safety expectations while being transported. Assists students entering and exiting district vehicles when necessary. Maintains appropriate communication with district staff regarding transportation schedules, delays, student attendance, or other transportation issues. Maintains the cleanliness and general organization of assigned district vehicles. Reports vehicle maintenance, repair, or safety concerns promptly. District Utility and Operational Support Picks up and delivers district vehicles for scheduled maintenance, repairs, fueling, inspections, or other services. Picks up and delivers equipment, supplies, materials, documents, packages, mail, and other district items. Assists with movement and distribution of materials between district buildings and departments. Performs routine errands and other district business as assigned. Assists maintenance, facilities, technology, nutrition services, district office, and school staff with basic logistical and operational tasks. Assists with receiving, organizing, storing, distributing, and inventorying district supplies and materials. Provides basic support for special projects, events, meetings, or district activities. Clerical, Filing and Organizational Suppor t Performs basic filing, scanning, copying, sorting, labeling, and records organization. Assists with maintaining orderly electronic and physical files. Organizes documents, forms, supplies, records, inventories, and other district materials. Performs basic data entry and spreadsheet updates as assigned. Assists with preparation, organization, and distribution of routine district documents and materials. Assists district staff with records cleanup, archiving, and records-retention projects. Maintains confidentiality of student, employee, and district information. Provides general clerical and organizational assistance to district departments and school offices as assigned. Student Supervision and Support Provides supervision of students before, during, and after transportation assignments. Supervises students in school settings, common areas, activities, events, or other locations as assigned. Supports appropriate student behavior and reinforces district and school expectations. Maintains positive, professional, and appropriate interactions with students. Reports student safety, behavior, attendance, or other concerns to the appropriate administrator or staff member. Assists school personnel with general student supervision needs when available.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Works cooperatively with administrators, teachers, classified employees, students, families, contractors, and community partners. Demonstrates reliability, punctuality, good judgment, and the ability to work independently. Adjusts work priorities based on district needs and daily assignments. Uses district equipment, vehicles, technology, and resources appropriately. Maintains confidentiality and complies with FERPA and other applicable student privacy requirements. Follows district safety procedures and reports unsafe conditions. Performs duties in a professional manner and maintains positive relationships with students, staff, and the public. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum age required by Oregon Department of Education for operation of the assigned student transportation vehicle. Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Ability to obtain and maintain Oregon Department of Education approval required for operation of the district's assigned Type 10 or other pupil transportation vehicle. Ability to complete required transportation, vehicle safety, emergency procedure, evacuation, pre-trip inspection, and first-aid training. Ability to successfully complete required criminal history and background checks. Basic computer skills, including the ability to use email, electronic documents, spreadsheets, and district information systems after training. Ability to maintain accurate records and organize materials and information. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to work independently and appropriately prioritize assigned responsibilities. Ability to interact effectively with students, staff, parents, vendors, and community members.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience working in a school or educational environment. Experience transporting or supervising students. Clerical, office, records-management, delivery, maintenance-support, or similar experience. Experience working with confidential information. Familiarity with basic school district operations.

The employee must demonstrate the ability to: Safely operate district vehicles. Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with students. Exercise sound judgment when supervising students. Maintain confidentiality. Organize records, materials, and work assignments. Complete routine clerical and data-entry tasks accurately. Manage multiple assignments and changing priorities. Communicate clearly and professionally. Work with limited direct supervision. Recognize safety concerns and respond appropriately. Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including: Sitting for extended periods while operating a motor vehicle. Frequently entering and exiting district vehicles and buildings. Standing and walking for periods of time while supervising students or completing assigned duties. Bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and moving routine materials and supplies. Lifting and carrying items typically associated with district deliveries and operational support. Visually and audibly monitoring students and surrounding conditions. Safely operating a motor vehicle in varying traffic and weather conditions.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in district vehicles, school buildings, district offices, maintenance and operational areas, and community locations. The employee may work indoors and outdoors and may be exposed to varying weather, traffic, noise, and environmental conditions associated with student transportation and general district operations.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary, work schedule, work year, benefits, and other conditions of employment shall be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement, district policies, and Board action.
