Description Role Overview:
As a Regional/OTR Truck Driver, you'll be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of goods, adhering to all federal, state, and company regulations. You'll play a crucial role in maintaining strong customer relationships and ensuring the smooth operation of our logistics network, with consistent and clear communication with our dispatch team.
Key Responsibilities:
Safe and Efficient Driving:
Operate a tractor-trailer safely and efficiently, adhering to DOT regulations and company policies.
Hauling Freight:
Pickup and deliver freight to assigned destinations on schedule, managing appointments and adjusting to unforeseen circumstances.
Load Management:
Properly secure loads, including hazardous materials, and ensure accurate weight distribution. Assist with loading and unloading as needed.
Vehicle Maintenance:
Conduct daily inspections of the truck and trailer, report maintenance issues.
Documentation and Communication:
Maintain accurate records, including logs, trip reports, and expense reports.
Dispatch Communication:
Maintain constant communication with dispatch, providing updates on your location, delivery status, and any potential issues. Follow dispatch instructions and provide feedback.
Customer Service:
Maintain positive relationships with customers, brokers, and shippers.
Compliance:
Adhere to all DOT regulations, company safety policies, and traffic laws.
Trip Planning:
Plan routes to maximize efficiency, fuel economy, and on-time delivery.
Authority and Judgement:
Accept loads from dispatch, and in conjunction with dispatch, accept broker loads, and reject unsafe loads. Make sound judgements based on safety while away from the terminal, including determining whether or not to drive in adverse weather conditions.
Qualifications:
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Clean two year driving record, meeting insurance requirements. Knowledge of DOT regulations and interstate highway systems. Ability to perform pre- and post-trip inspections. Proficiency in electronic logging devices (ELDs). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with the job. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Working Conditions:
Long-haul/short-haul driving across the contiguous 48 states. Irregular hours, including nights and weekends. Exposure to various weather conditions.
