Instructional Job Summary The Vehicle Driver is responsible for the safe, consistent, and professional transportation of ASUA students and staff to and from program sites, community-based locations, and approved activities using ASUA-owned vehicles. This position plays a critical role in supporting ASUA's commitment to community integration, transition programming, and real-world learning experiences. The Driver ensures that all transportation is conducted with the highest level of safety, structure, and professionalism while maintaining alignment with ASUA's behavioral and operational expectations. Certifications and Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent Current PA Driver's License with clean driving record Current (dated within a year) Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances Prior experience transporting students or working in a school or human services setting (preferred) Experience working with individuals with diverse learning and behavioral needs (preferred) Strong reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail Essential Duties Transportation & Safety Safely operate ASUA vehicles to transport students and staff to assigned destinations (e.g., community sites, job placements, transition programming locations, and inter-campus travel) Adhere to all local, state, and federal driving laws and school transportation regulations Maintain strict adherence to ASUA safety protocols, including student supervision expectations during transport Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections (fuel levels, cleanliness, safety checks, reporting concerns immediately) Ensure all passengers are properly seated and secured prior to vehicle movement Maintain awareness of student needs, including behavioral, medical, and mobility considerations Able to respond appropriately to vehicle safety incidents by following established incident response procedures and reporting protocols Program Support Support the implementation of student programming by ensuring timely and reliable transportation for scheduled activities Collaborate with various ASUA teams to understand daily schedules and transportation needs Maintain flexibility in routes and schedules based on program demands and student needs Assist staff in maintaining structured and appropriate expectations for students during transport (aligned with ASUA programming) Professional Conduct & Communication Represent ASUA professionally in the community at all times Communicate effectively with staff regarding timing, delays, or concerns Maintain confidentiality regarding student and organizational information Follow all ASUA communication protocols (use of work-issued devices, radios, etc.) Vehicle Maintenance & Accountability Maintain cleanliness and organization of all assigned vehicles Report maintenance issues, damages, or concerns immediately to Operations Ensure vehicles are fueled, prepared, and ready for daily use Follow all ASUA procedures for vehicle usage, documentation, and accountability Additional Duties and Responsibilities To read and abide by the Employee Handbook including updates and changes To attend all mandatory meetings, including those that fall outside of regularly scheduled school hours and as described in the Employee Handbook Adhere to A Step Up Academy's policies, procedures, and methodologies Adherence to all ASUA policies and procedures, including safety, communication, and professional conduct standards Participation in required trainings (e.g., CPI, Ukeru, safety protocols) Flexibility to support transportation needs across programs and locations This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee. The individual in this position will be required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other related duties as assigned by the Van Driver or any member of the Executive Team or other appropriate administrator. Maintain an active and clean driver's license while employed as the Vehicle Driver at ASUA Travel between campuses as needed and directed. Organizational Relationships & Supervisory Responsibilities Directly accountable to the supervisor listed above and, in the absence of that individual, to the Chief Operations and Innovation Officer. This position does not have direct reports.

Ability to sit for extended periods while driving Ability to assist with student entry/exit from vehicles as needed Ability to respond as directed to behavioral or safety needs during transport Exposure to community environments and varying weather conditions Moderate degree of physical stamina, with frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds and the possibility of lifting and/or carrying up to 50 pounds Adequate vision and hearing ability for monitoring driving conditions and signs Exposure to noise and activity of a special needs school setting May involve exposure to communicable diseases and other adverse conditions Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions Equipment/Material Handled The individual in this position shall be assigned a variety of resources and materials which are to be appropriately stored and accounted for. All media resources and borrowed material are to be judiciously used, and are to be maintained in a reasonably unsoiled and non- damaged fashion. Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.
