Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Mechanic/Welder to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preventative maintenance, repairing and fabricating a wide range of heavy equipment, industrial machinery, and vehicle systems. Your expertise will ensure our fleet and equipment operate safely and efficiently, supporting our mission of sustainable waste management. Responsibilities Perform PM inspection and Lube services to maintain 103 refuse collection vehicles Conduct welding and fabrication work to repair or modify equipment components using various welding techniques including soldering and arc welding. Conduct preventive maintenance tasks such as tire service, alignment checks, equipment lubrication, and general inspections. Use hand tools and power tools safely to assemble or repair machinery parts following safety protocols. Assist with heavy lifting tasks and ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications. Requirements Proven experience as a mechanic or welder with a background in heavy equipment operation and repair. Dealership experience or background working with Caterpillar or similar heavy machinery is highly desirable. Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding (arc, MIG/TIG), soldering, and metal cutting. Knowledge of automotive diagnostics, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, diesel engines, and vehicle electrical systems. Experience working with farm machinery, industrial equipment, tractor-trailers, or heavy trucks is preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent hand tool proficiency and safety awareness. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs. Excellent customer service skills with a proactive approach to service technician responsibilities. Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with no restrictions required within 6 months of hire.
