We are seeking a dependable, safety-focused Railcar Repair & Maintenance Technician to join our growing team. This full-time position is based primarily in Palatka, Florida , with occasional work in the Jacksonville area. As a Railcar Repair & Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing daily inspections of freight railcars to identify mechanical, structural, and safety-related issues. Once issues are identified, you will perform the necessary repairs to ensure each railcar meets safety and operational standards before returning to service. This is a hands-on position that is ideal for someone with mechanical aptitude who enjoys working with tools and solving problems. Experience with railcars, welding, automotive repair, heavy equipment, or industrial maintenance is preferred, but we are willing to train motivated candidates with the right attitude and work ethic. Responsibilities Perform daily inspections of freight railcars to identify maintenance and safety issues. Diagnose repair needs and perform repairs to restore railcars to safe operating condition. Repair or replace damaged railcar components. Perform light welding, grinding, cutting, and basic fabrication as needed. Inspect and repair brakes, couplers, safety appliances, doors, ladders, and other railcar components. Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment. Complete inspection and repair documentation accurately. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and industry regulations. Work independently and as part of a team to complete daily assignments. Qualifications Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Experience in railcar repair, welding, industrial maintenance, automotive repair, or heavy equipment repair is preferred but not required. Ability to use hand and power tools safely. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
