Inspector
Job Description
Role Overview The Rotating Equipment Inspector works directly with the Rotating Equipment Area Engineer and Production Team to provide equipment assurance and troubleshooting support. Reporting to the Rotating Equipment Team Lead (with a dotted line to the Area Production Unit Manager), this role serves as the primary point of contact for daily rotating equipment issues from maintenance and operations.
Key Responsibilities Troubleshooting & Support:
Serve as the first point of contact for operations and maintenance regarding rotating equipment issues, including non-business hours support when required.
Daily Operations:
Review operations shift reports, evaluate daily maintenance notifications, attend morning production meetings, and help prioritize area activities.
Quality & Repairs:
Develop Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and repair specifications, establish quality assurance hold/witness points, assist with failure analysis (5-Why), and issue failure reports.
Proactive Monitoring:
Use web-based monitoring tools (PIVision, SmartConnect, PTM Hub) to track equipment health and execute proactive technical monitoring.
Process Improvement & Maintenance:
Perform Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) continuous improvements, update wIMS RCM, correct Bill of Materials (BOM) in GSAP/CMMS, and submit New Inventory Requests (NIR).
Turnaround & Assurance:
Detail work scopes for Turnaround (STO) processes, support maintenance coordination, and provide assurance on machinery-related operating procedures.
Training & Safety:
Coach operations and maintenance teams on practices that improve personal/process safety, reliability, efficiency, and cost effectiveness. Key Qualifications & Competencies Practical experience troubleshooting and maintaining industrial rotating machinery. Ability to build Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and participate in failure analysis (5-Why, RCA). Familiarity with
CMMS/SAP
systems (BOM management) and web-based technical monitoring tools. Strong communication skills to maintain fluid coordination between engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.
