Overview We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Port Dispatcher to join our logistics team in the. This vital role involves coordinating freight movements, managing transportation schedules, and ensuring seamless communication between carriers, drivers, and internal teams. As a key player in our transportation operations, you will help optimize fleet efficiency, uphold safety standards, and deliver exceptional customer service through proactive dispatching and communication. Responsibilities Coordinate and schedule freight shipments by utilizing transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and Vehicle Dispatch Software. Manage inbound and outbound freight activities, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries in compliance with DOT regulations. Communicate effectively via multi-line phone systems, internal communication channels, and phone etiquette to relay dispatch instructions clearly. Monitor GPS and GIS tools to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and troubleshoot logistical issues in real-time. Maintain accurate data entry records related to shipping & receiving, fleet management, and logistics operations using Microsoft Office and SyteLine. Collaborate with warehouse staff on shipping schedules, freight handling, and 3PL (third-party logistics) coordination to ensure smooth operations. Adhere strictly to road transportation regulations while managing dispatching duties to promote safety and compliance. Skills Strong knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems), GPS tracking, and transportation planning tools. Proficiency with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and vehicle dispatch software. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently across multiple platforms like Microsoft Office and SyteLine. Demonstrated experience in logistics, freight management, shipping & receiving processes, and fleet management. Exceptional communication skills for effective phone call management, customer service interactions, and internal communication. Analysis skills for evaluating routing options, transportation data, and operational efficiencies. Familiarity with DOT regulations governing road transportation operations to ensure compliance at all times.
