Job Description :
Summary:
The Jockey Valet is responsible for ensuring that the Jockeys, Jockey equipment, and attire are prepared and secured for each race in a timely and efficient manner.
Responsibilities:
Ensure that horses are saddled properly. Prepare jockey equipment prior to each race. Ensure that jockey is properly attired for each race. Assist jockey in unsaddling of horses. Ensure interactions with internal and external guests follow appropriate manner. Adhere to all company and local policies, procedures, and operating guidelines.
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED 0-6 months of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience a plus. Must have experience working with and around horses Lead completion of daily tasks within the department or work unit. Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English. Must have the ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules. Bilingual, Spanish, English a plus Must have the ability to perform basic math skills. Must qualify for a license with Illinois Racing Board.
Physical Demands:
Walking 90% of the time. Standing 10% of the time. Bending and lifting 75% of the time. Lifting/moving maximum of 25 lbs Must be able to work in various weather conditions.
Base Pay Range :
19.00 This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. The base salary will depend on a number of factors such as: qualifications, experience level, and skillset. Voluntary full-time employment benefits include medical, dental, and vision; life, AD&D, critical illness, and hospital insurance; short and long-term disability; identity/legal protection; as well as access to FSA and HSA accounts.
