Job Description

Van Driver Substitute Safe Transportation. Meaningful Connections. Make a Difference. As a Van Driver Substitute, you'll play an important role in helping people we support with intellectual and developmental disabilities safely get to and from programs, services, and activities. This as-needed position is a great opportunity for someone looking for a flexible schedule while making a meaningful difference in their community.

At The Arc Columbia-Saratoga, you'll belong, contribute, and make a difference." Key Responsibilities Safely transport people we support to and from agency programs and other locations as needed. Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle as necessary. Ensure passengers are safely secured using seat belts and wheelchair tie-downs, when applicable. Maintain a safe, respectful, and comfortable environment for all passengers. Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after routes and promptly report any safety or maintenance concerns. Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle and ensure adequate fuel and fluids for assigned routes. Follow all traffic laws, DOT regulations, agency policies, and transportation safety procedures. Complete required transportation documentation and promptly report accidents, delays, or incidents. Remain flexible and be available to provide substitute coverage for transportation routes as needed. Participate in required training and maintain all necessary certifications.
