Qualifications:

Current Alabama Teacher's Certification or ability to obtain or hold the Alabama Teacher's Certification with appropriate endorsement in

Technical Education or Technical Education:

Carpentry or Technical Education:

Building Construction Willingness and ability to complete and maintain active certification requirements in this particular field Must possess industry credentials in carpentry, having passed the NOCTI (0207) Occupational Proficiency Exam Experience in residential and commercial interior and exterior construction, including the use of hand and power tools, building materials, flooring systems, wall, ceiling, and roof framing, windows, entrance doors, and stair layout. Seven years of work experience in the last ten in the field of carpentry

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

: To establish and maintain an Academy as related to carpentry To establish a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth To motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide an education foundation in carpentry To establish and maintain a positive and ongoing working relationship with core academic teachers in order to integrate curriculum and instruction To provide students with information concerning career options in carpentry To teach all content standards To promote the school's Carpentry Academy to students, parents, teachers, and community To recruit students into the Carpentry Academy and to encourage students to attain concentrator and completer status To select, organize, distribute, and maintain materials and equipment for the school's Carpentry Academy To sponsor student organizations as related to the functions of the Academy To complete, maintain, and submit Career Tech records and documentation on time To attend Career Tech meetings, professional development activities, and functions
