Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Buried Drop Technician to join our dynamic telecommunications team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting underground fiber optic and cable drops that connect homes and businesses to the network infrastructure. Your expertise will ensure reliable connectivity for our customers by accurately executing cabling, splicing, and testing procedures in various field environments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, operate heavy equipment, and contribute to the expansion of essential communication services. Responsibilities Perform excavation, trenching, and burying of fiber optic cables and telecommunication lines using heavy equipment such as excavators and bucket trucks Install buried drops according to schematics, blueprints, and technical specifications for residential and commercial properties Conduct fiber splicing and testing to ensure optimal signal quality and network performance Use hand tools, power tools, and computer networking equipment to complete cabling and infrastructure setups Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals related to telecommunication systems Climb poles or structures safely when required for line work or troubleshooting low voltage systems like LAN (Local Area Network) Ethernet connections or telephony lines Maintain detailed records of work performed, including installation logs, test results, and safety inspections Experience Proven experience in field service roles within telecommunication or construction industries Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, excavators, or trenchers Knowledge of fiber splicing techniques and telecommunication cabling standards Familiarity with electrical systems, low voltage wiring, LAN Ethernet networks, WAN (Wide Area Network), and IT infrastructure components Ability to read schematics, technical diagrams, and blueprints accurately Strong skills in using hand tools, power tools, and safety equipment for construction-related tasks Prior experience working with network infrastructure including Ethernet cabling, telephony systems, and electrical wiring is highly desirable Join us as a Buried Drop Technician to build vital communication networks that connect communities!
