Non-Exempt Job Summary:
The job of "Mechanic" is done for the purpose/s of determining needed repairs and/or replacements on a vehicle; ensuring the availability of vehicles in safe operating condition; and providing written documentation of repairs to meet district, state and federal requirements. Essential Job Functions - may include, but are not limited to, the following: Diagnoses potential vehicle malfunctions for the purpose of determining needed vehicle repairs and/or replacements. Executes preventive vehicle maintenance programs for the purpose of maintaining vehicles in a safe operating condition. Maintains tools, equipment and/or shop area for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required tools and equipment within a safe work area. Prepares documentation (e.g. repairs, maintenance records, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or information to comply with regulating guidelines. Repairs/replaces vehicle systems/components, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability of vehicles in safe operating condition. Replaces defective vehicle parts/systems for the purpose of ensuring the availability of vehicles in a safe operating condition. Maintains prompt and regular attendance. Other Job Functions Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. Occasionally operating school bus to transport students in home to school routes. Performs minor body work (e.g. front ends, fenders, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining the appearance and safe operation of the vehicles.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Training Required:
High School Diploma or GED.Experience Required:
Prior related experience involving gas , diesel and alternative engines. At least two years preferred. Skills, Knowledge and/orAbilities Required:
Skills to: Maintain gas, diesel and alternative engines. Operate hand and power tools. Operate standard office equipment including use of basic computer applications , to include email and Outlook calendar ; use of English in both written and verbal form, use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.Knowledge of:
R epairs, safe working methods and procedure.Ability to:
Stand for prolonged periods. Inspect and repair buses.Significant Physical Abilities include:
lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling, hearing conversations and other sounds (e.g. air leaks), near/far visual acuity/depth perception with or without accommodation. Special Requirements Valid Oregon Commercial Driver's License with air brake and passenger endorsements or ability to acquire one within 90 days of employment; and evidence of insurability. Oregon School Bus Driver's Certificate or ability to acquire one within 90 days of employment. Oregon Fingerprint and criminal background check clearance;Other :
Provides own basic mechanic's hand tools.Work Calendar:
