Job Description

Auto repair at The Lift Garage provides a vehicle out of poverty. We're changing the world one car at a time. Come join us on the Board!
ABOUT THE LIFT AND OUR IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY
Since our inception in 2013, community members with less means have saved more than $4 million on car repairs. For the clients we see, saving on their car repair could mean the difference between keeping their job, getting safely to doctor appointments, or even from becoming homeless. We have grown every year for the past thirteen years and we are poised for more impact with every year that passes. In 2018 we moved to our current location (at Lake and Hiawatha) in the heart of East Lake Street where we offer 5 repair bays. At the heart of our mission are our people. At The Lift Garage, we work to recruit and retain people on our board who possess values that align with our unwavering commitment to treating each individual with dignity and respect and ensuring our clients receive equitable service: those that need the most support, receive the most support. To better serve our community, we strive to have a team that reflects their diversity in race, gender-identity and socioeconomic status. Successful board members are people with a passion to help us achieve the mission of The Lift Garage which reads: The Lift Garage offers people a vehicle out of poverty by: Providing free or low-cost quality car repair Connecting community partners to strengthen the support network Linking customers with other needed resources We specifically are interested in Board Member candidates who have experience in at least one of the following areas: Legal Expertise Garage Operations Fundraising and Development Non-profit service Provider or Consumer Experience with People in Crisis Black, Indigenous, People of Color, queer, gender non-conforming, younger adults, former customers, and people with low-incomes are strongly encouraged to apply.
