Agape Child Development Center, dba Agape Oasis, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in North Minneapolis dedicated to providing high-quality, culturally relevant programs and services focused on healing individuals, restoring families, empowering people, and strengthening communities. Agape Oasis envisions a community where individuals and families have access to the tools, resources, and support needed to move beyond trauma and live their best lives. As a vital community anchor, Agape Oasis serves scholars 6 weeks through 12 years of age , including infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age youth. The organization provides wraparound family support services, including 24-hour childcare, before- and after-school care, resource navigation, domestic violence intervention and prevention, and holistic youth development initiatives . As Agape Oasis expands its organizational capacity, physical campus, and developmental footprint through 2026 and beyond, we are seeking 5 to 7 thoughtful, committed leaders to join our Board of Directors and help guide the next chapter of the organization. Board members will provide strategic governance, support executive leadership, contribute professional and community expertise, and help advance Agape Oasis's mission and long-term sustainability. Time Commitment & General Responsibilities Board Meetings Attend monthly Board of Directors meetings. Come prepared to participate in meaningful discussions and decision-making. Remain engaged with organizational priorities and strategic initiatives between meetings. Committee Participation Serve on at least one Board committee. Participate in committee meetings, which may occur monthly or quarterly depending on committee needs and project cycles. Contribute expertise, relationships, and leadership to advance committee goals. General Board Responsibilities Provide strategic oversight and governance. Support fiduciary responsibility and financial sustainability. Help guide organizational policies and long-term planning. Support and provide appropriate oversight to executive leadership. Serve as an ambassador for Agape Oasis within the broader community. Leverage professional, community, and personal networks to support the organization's mission and growth. Uphold the organization's values, mission, and commitment to ethical and culturally responsive leadership. Potential Contributions:

Provide financial oversight and guidance. Support annual budget development and monitoring. Review financial reports and organizational financial performance. Support oversight of capital project budgets and financial planning. Help identify opportunities to strengthen and diversify revenue. Collaborate with organizational leadership and external financial professionals, including auditors, as appropriate.

Real Estate, Facilities & Capital Growth Focus:

Supporting facility development, campus expansion, and the organization's long-term physical infrastructure.

Potential Contributions:

Provide guidance related to building and capital development projects. Support oversight of project budgets and timelines. Collaborate with the architectural firm , contractors, and other project partners. Provide insight related to contractor selection and project planning. Help ensure facilities support Agape Oasis's programs, services, accessibility, and safety needs. Contribute expertise in real estate, construction, architecture, facilities management, or development.

Fundraising & Philanthropy Focus:

Strengthening fundraising capacity, donor engagement, revenue diversification, and capital campaign strategy.

Potential Contributions:

Support annual fundraising goals and strategies. Assist with capital campaign planning and implementation. Cultivate relationships with individual, corporate, and philanthropic supporters. Support donor stewardship and engagement. Help identify potential funding opportunities, partners, and resources. Provide guidance in areas such as major gifts, grants, sponsorships, and philanthropic partnerships.

Governance & Board Development Focus:

Strengthening Board structure, organizational governance, policies, compliance, and leadership development.

Potential Contributions:

Support Board recruitment, nomination, voting, and onboarding processes. Review and help maintain bylaws, Board policies, and committee charters. Support Board orientation and ongoing development. Facilitate Board self-assessments and governance improvement efforts. Promote strong ethical practices, accountability, and effective nonprofit governance. Provide expertise related to legal, compliance, organizational administration, or nonprofit leadership.

Marketing & Communications Focus:

Strengthening Agape Oasis's public presence, storytelling, brand positioning, and community engagement.

Potential Contributions:

Provide strategic guidance on marketing and communications. Support organizational storytelling and visibility. Advise on digital, social media, website, and community communications. Help strengthen brand consistency across communication platforms. Support communications that elevate the organization's programs, impact, and fundraising efforts.

Early Childhood Education & Youth Development Focus:

Supporting the quality, growth, and long-term vision of Agape Oasis's early childhood and youth-serving programs. Agape Oasis is particularly interested in individuals who are passionate about Early Childhood Education and the healthy development of children and families , as the organization serves scholars from 6 weeks through 12 years of age .

Potential Contributions:

Provide insight into early childhood education, youth development, and family-centered programming. Support strategic planning related to program growth and educational quality. Provide perspective on the needs of children, families, educators, and communities. Help identify partnerships, resources, and opportunities that strengthen educational programming. Contribute expertise in early childhood education, child development, education leadership, or youth-serving organizations.
