Job Description

We are currently seeking compassionate, mission-aligned individuals to join our Board of Directors. This is a volunteer position that helps guide the strategic direction of the organization and ensures the long-term sustainability of our work. Board members are stewards of the rescue's mission, advocates in the community, and champions of good governance, financial health, and ethical practices. Board members should attend board meetings (held in person or remotely), participate in strategic planning, and contribute their skills, expertise, and networks to advance the rescue's mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Help set the ongoing strategic direction of the organization and monitor progress toward our mission Provide fiduciary oversight by reviewing and approving budgets, financial reports, and organizational policies and guidelines Serve as an ambassador for Second Chance in the community Participate actively in board meetings Support fundraising efforts and community outreach through attendance, donations, and introductions Actively contribute to a collaborative and respectful board culture
Ideal Candidates Will:
Be compassionate and caring about animal welfare and community-driven work Have experience in nonprofit governance/advocacy, financial or tax experience, or legal knowledge Have excellent organizational, recordkeeping, and communication skills Bring diverse perspectives and a collaborative spirit Be able to commit to attending meetings and supporting the organization between meetings Participate in fund development and community outreach by taking on various tasks
Term Commitment:
