Full Job Description Overview:
The Business Analyst SR - Payments is a senior-level role responsible for defining, shaping, and executing the enterprise Payments strategy. This position serves as a key strategic partner to leadership, with broad accountability for advancing payment capabilities, identifying opportunities for innovation and growth, and ensuring payment initiatives align with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and evolving member expectations. In this role, the incumbent is expected to operate with a high degree of independence, sound judgment, and strategic influence, leading complex, cross-functional initiatives from concept through implementation. The position requires advanced experience in payments, banking, or financial services, including demonstrated success managing enterprise-level projects, translating complex business and technical requirements into actionable solutions, guiding vendor and stakeholder decision-making, and balancing operational, risk, compliance, and member experience priorities. As a senior-level contributor, this role is expected to provide thought leadership, influence outcomes across departments, and bring the depth of experience needed to anticipate challenges, resolve issues proactively, and drive measurable business results.
Responsibilities:
Works closely with leadership, business units, and stakeholders to define strategic objectives, system scope, and enterprise Payment's roadmap priorities. Leads requirements elicitation efforts by gathering business and technical requirements and translating them into functional specifications and strategic solutions aligned to enterprise goals. Acts as a liaison between business users, technical teams, and vendors to ensure alignment of business processes, systems, and product requirements. Leads cross-functional teams, vendors, and third parties to ensure business rules, policies, procedures, and strategic objectives are effectively implemented. Develops and manages project plans, including milestones, timelines, and resource coordination to support successful delivery of complex Payment's initiatives. Oversees implementation and integration of system enhancements, vendor solutions, and new features across payment channels. Coordinates production deployments and ensures readiness across impacted areas, including communication planning, training support, and post-implementation activities. Leads the design, execution, and oversight of user acceptance testing (UAT), including test cases, defect identification, and resolution tracking. Establishes and monitors quality assurance frameworks and performance metrics to ensure deliverables meet business objectives and regulatory expectations. Conducts post-implementation validation and quality assurance reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and effectiveness of deployed solutions. Monitors and analyzes trends in regulatory laws, rules, and requirements, advising leadership on operational impacts and necessary actions. Partners with Compliance, Legal, and Risk teams review and support development of policies, procedures, contracts, disclosures, and system changes to ensure adherence to applicable regulations. Participates in new product and service development, providing strategic input on compliance considerations and regulatory risk. Identifies compliance risks and supports the development and implementation of mitigation strategies and corrective actions. Manages and influences vendor relationships to ensure service delivery, performance expectations, and strategic objectives are achieved. Collaborates with cross-functional partners including Payments, Marketing, IT, Risk, and Operations to drive alignment and execution of strategic initiatives. Contributes to portfolio growth strategies by supporting segmentation, targeted campaigns, and performance optimization efforts. Analyzes campaign performance, portfolio trends, and channel metrics to provide insights and recommendations for improvement. Supports testing strategies such as pilot programs and A/B testing to enhance campaign effectiveness, product adoption, and member engagement. Collects, analyzes, and interprets data to identify trends, inform strategic decision-making, and improve performance outcomes. Develops and maintains reporting, dashboards, workflows, and documentation to support operational transparency, audit readiness, and continuous improvement. Works with peers and leadership from multiple functions, influencing decision-making and driving impact across the organization. Provides guidance, training support, and knowledge sharing to team members and stakeholders to build organizational capability.
Qualifications:
Education 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree Preferred Experience Progressive experience in Payments, Banking, or Financial Services strategy, with a strong record of leading complex projects. Minimum of 6 Years of Experience Knowledge, Skills & Ability Subject matter expert leading complex, cross-functional initiative while driving strategy. Advanced understanding of payment operations, digital platforms, payment networks, and related vendors (e.g., Velera, Mastercard, ACH, RTP, FedNow) Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks applicable to financial institutions. Demonstrated expertise in business analysis, requirements gathering, and solution design. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and trends. Ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights and recommendations. Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders across departments. Ability to analyze performance metrics and develop reporting to support decision-making. High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and ensure data accuracy and security. USD $91,676.08 - USD $142,097.92 /Yr.
