Job Category Underwriting Compensation Overview The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards. Salary Range $120,400.00 - $198,700.00 Target Openings 1 What Is the Opportunity? Bond & Specialty Insurance provides management and professional liability insurance, as well as surety bonds to businesses and non-profit organizations of all sizes. As an underwriter, you will have a dynamic role that blends evaluating and analyzing financial and business risk, building relationships, and selling and negotiating with clients, agents, and brokers. This role is part of the Private & Non-Profit Liability team which provides financial protection private and non-profit companies. Team members work in a fast-paced environment that analyzes complex data related to financial performance, industry and economic exposures, and risk management practices Coverages range from Directors and Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, CyberRisk, Kidnap and Ransom, Crime, and Identity Fraud Expense Reimbursement. The Senior Account Executive Officer (Senior AEO) will partner with agents and brokers to provide insurance or surety solutions to customers. A Senior AEO will analyze and evaluate risk to achieve business goals within an assigned book of business. This role is seen as a technical resource for the region/business unit. As a Senior AEO, you are decisive, detail-oriented, and know how to build relationships internally and externally to drive results. Your ability to independently assess highly complex risk and sell our products in challenging markets will contribute to the profitability and success of Travelers. As of the date of this posting, Travelers anticipates that this posting will remain open until August 24, 2026. What Will You Do? Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business. The book of business owned is primarily comprised of accounts with high complexity. Underwrite and skillfully negotiate highly complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability. Execute business unit underwriting strategies across your book of business to achieve profit and growth objectives. Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners within the business unit and across the enterprise to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities. Foster and maintain relationships with external partners by regularly meeting in person with agents and brokers to market, sell, and educate on Travelers products with a goal of writing and retaining accounts consistent with our risk appetite. Must be able to travel to such meetings. Identify and capture new business opportunities using advanced consultative marketing and sales skills. Independently develop and execute agency sales plans and frequently partner with your Managing Director (MD) to develop region/group sales plans. Support the development of less experienced underwriters leveraging advanced coaching and mentorship skills within the region/business unit. Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? Bachelor's degree. Eight to ten years of applicable underwriting experience. Deep knowledge of products, the regulatory environment, and of local insurance and surety markets. Advanced critical thinking skills with the ability to proactively identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges and analyze available information to make timely decisions in alignment with our risk appetite. Excellent communication skills with the ability to successfully negotiate in difficult situations with agents and brokers. Advanced sales and marketing skills. CPCU designation. What is a Must Have?
