Job Summary Supports the functional and technical integration aspects of academic advising systems, as a component of the University's academic advising and student success efforts. Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding, combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry best practices and standards, along with use of local resources such as IT solution vendors, functional leads in Academic Advising, Student Success, Degree Audit, and University's Division of IT. Documents user and functional needs and requirements, along with executing phases of systems analysis in relation to technical systems development, data integration, reporting, and system enhancement and conducts training of the technology applications Performs system troubleshooting in a production support environment. Collaborates with IT support and Peoplesoft technical staff for current support and testing future upgrades of PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS) and third-party IT solutions for academic advising technology tools and its supporting Case Management, Degree Mapping, Course Auditing and Communication interfaces. Designs and formulates solutions that establish database and application configurations, standards, guidelines and quality assurance for systems development deliverables such as conceptual design, usability, external data interface requirements, data loading, and extraction, maintenance plans, and communication plan and workflow. Produces project documentation according to a published implementation methodology of development specifications as well as user and operational manuals to enable departmental staff to continue computer support to the related systems. Collects and analyzes business and functional requirements by reviewing supplied documentation and conducting requirement meetings as it relates to specifications for database interfaces in support of Academic Advising Support tool and database needs and coordinates with the Division of IT staff for maintenance of database interfaces. Acts as a liaison between the business and the technical team members through the solution delivery process. Works closely with IT solutions vendors, internal cross-functional business analyst staff, and Peoplesoft development team during all phases of product development, external IT solution interfaces, and enhancement to ensure smooth delivery of services. Analysis and writes specifications for database interfaces in support of Academic Advising Unit database needs and coordinates with the Division of IT staff for maintenance of database interfaces. Produces Academic Advising module record queries to meet the reporting and informational needs of Advising support units, including extracting data a from multiple sources such as the local SIS and third-party sources and presenting data in individualized reports or to business intelligence models for reporting and analysis. Works with users to evaluate and develop logical workflows. These include, but not exclusively, such configurations as mass communication electronic delivery, programming selection criteria, along with managing delivery of mass data changes in support of Academic Advising needs such as service indicator and student group assignments, advising caseload distribution, and others. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience in related field. Desired Qualifications Experience working with Student Information Systems such as PeopleSoft Campus Solutions. Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical jargon into user-friendly training manuals, and experience conducting hands-on training sessions for non-technical staff.
