Somebody in Operations says it works another. They are describing the same process, and neither of them is wrong. Working out what is actually true, and turning it into something a developer can build, is this job. Bankers Surety underwrites bail bonds through a network of independent agencies across the country, and we are part of Bankers Financial Corporation. You would join a small team, working directly with the manager who hires you and with the developers who build it. We build the internal applications our operations and accounting teams run on, the external web applications those agencies use, a mobile app, and an API that other companies integrate with. This is a good place to start in this kind of work, whether it is your first job or a change of direction. You would see the whole lifecycle instead of one slice, and learn a specialized corner of the insurance industry that not many people understand. We do not expect you to arrive knowing it, and we will teach you the business and the tools. What You Would Do The early weeks are for shadowing our subject matter experts and developers, sitting in on stakeholder meetings, and learning the business before you own requirements of your own. We would rather you ask than guess. Meet with business stakeholders to understand how a process works today, where it hurts, and what they are trying to accomplish Write up what needs to be built as user stories with clear, testable acceptance criteria in Azure DevOps, and keep them current Take in bug reports, reproduce the problem, and write it up with clear steps, expected behavior, and severity Confirm that completed work does what was asked, and coordinate user acceptance testing through to sign-off Write release notes and short end-user guides, and help present completed work at sprint demos Pull and review data to support requirement decisions, using reporting tools and, as you learn it, SQL Track open questions, decisions, and follow-ups so nothing gets dropped Later On You would run stakeholder sessions on your own, map processes end to end, review the specifications that define how our systems exchange data with outside systems, and own the requirements for a whole area of the portfolio. What We Are Looking For Three things matter more than everything else here. Strong written and verbal communication You can sit through a messy, contradictory conversation and turn it into a clear one-page summary that a developer and a VP would both understand. You ask clarifying questions of people more senior than you, and you keep asking until the answer is unambiguous. Careful attention to detail You catch the inconsistency, the missing case, the number that does not tie. When something looks almost right, you check it instead of assuming. The instinct to take a messy problem apart When someone brings you a problem as one big thing, you can find the parts it is made of and work out which part is actually causing the trouble. Also Required Highly organized, with a reliable system for tracking commitments and follow-ups Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience Nice To Have, But Not Required Any prior exposure to software development, IT, or technical support, and some sense of how those teams work day to day Comfort working with data in spreadsheets, and any exposure to SQL. We will teach you SQL if you do not already have it Comfort using AI tools as a drafting aid, along with the judgment to verify their output against what stakeholders actually said Experience in insurance, surety, financial services, or another regulated industry You Do Not Need Any of This A prior analyst job title, a certification, programming experience, or experience in our industry. This is a role we intend to develop.
