Role Overview eNGINE is looking for a Mid-Level Business Analyst to join an active application development project focused on new consumer and small-business account opening . This role will sit directly with the project team and work across business stakeholders, an existing design/vendor team, and development teams to understand business processes, ask the right questions, and translate complex requirements into clear user stories and acceptance criteria. The application supports multiple account-opening experiences, including online and in-branch channels , with potential hybrid workflows and dependencies across other projects. Much of the work involves understanding complex decision trees, business rules, eligibility requirements, and customer scenarios and turning them into requirements that development teams can execute against. The ideal candidate has experience working in a regulated environment , with retail banking or financial services experience strongly preferred . Healthcare and other highly regulated industries may also translate well. This is a hands-on role for someone who is willing to jump into unfamiliar areas, learn the business, ask questions, and help wherever the project needs it. Duties & Responsibilities Work with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand account-opening processes, business rules, workflows, and customer scenarios. Translate complex business processes and decision logic into clear requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation. Partner closely with developers to clarify requirements and ensure stories accurately reflect the intended business functionality. Analyze how requirements differ across online, in-branch, and potential hybrid account-opening experiences. Identify dependencies, gaps, assumptions, and downstream impacts across related projects and systems. Work through complex decision trees involving account eligibility, customer types, authorization requirements, age-based rules, transaction limits, and other business scenarios. Participate in UAT planning and execution, with an understanding of how requirements should translate into meaningful test scenarios. Assist with data mapping and data-related analysis when needed, working through unfamiliar data structures and relationships with the appropriate stakeholders. Collaborate with project managers, developers, designers, vendors, and subject matter experts throughout the delivery lifecycle. Proactively ask questions, investigate problems, and develop an understanding of the organization's methodology and processes. Qualifications 3+ years of experience working as a Business Analyst in a software development or technology environment. Experience gathering and documenting business requirements and translating them into user stories and acceptance criteria. Experience working with complex business rules, workflows, decision trees, or transactional processes. Experience working in a highly regulated industry is required . Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with both business and technical teams. Comfortable working in an environment where requirements and project details are still evolving. Demonstrated willingness to learn new systems, processes, and subject matter rather than relying solely on previous experience. Ability to work onsite in Downtown Pittsburgh five days per week . Preferred Experience Retail banking or financial services experience is strongly preferred. Experience with new account opening, customer onboarding, deposit products, consumer banking, or small-business banking. Experience supporting applications used across both digital and physical/branch channels. Experience creating or maintaining data mappings. Hands-on UAT experience, including developing test scenarios from business requirements. Experience working with Agile development teams and software development life cycles. Familiarity with applications built using Java/Spring Boot environments is a plus, but coding experience is not required. Experience in healthcare, insurance, utilities, or another highly regulated industry may be considered in lieu of banking experience.
