RN Clinical Analyst & Coding Specialist Contract:

Fully Remote but must reside in the state of South Carolina TEKsystems is seeking an experienced RN + Certified Coding Specialist to support medical code change governance across Medicaid policy and systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys research, analysis, and recommending policy/system actions—not production coding. You'll partner closely with internal stakeholders and IT teams to evaluate code changes and drive accurate implementation within a Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS). Why this role is open This is a new/additional position supporting complex reference administration responsibilities and deliverable timelines, while also strengthening coverage and succession planning for the team. What you'll do (Key Responsibilities) Lead annual and quarterly CMS updates for ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS code changes. Perform initial analysis to determine scope and impact of code changes. Prepare code change listings for reference administration and Medicaid program teams for review and analysis. Facilitate working sessions with agency personnel, stakeholders, and process owners to review findings and align on recommended actions. Serve as a coding methodology + Medicaid policy SME supporting operational and policy decision-making. Research and document business rules, requirements, and models; maintain artifacts in a repository. Collaborate on process documentation and contribute to process improvements and MMIS enhancements; support future MMIS replacement initiatives as needed. (As needed) Support clinical record review against criteria to determine medical necessity.Required Qualifications RN License:
Active, current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the hiring state.Education:
BSN or ADN.Coding Credential:
Current CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist). ICD-10 proficiency (exam demonstrated) or ability to become certified within one year. 5+ years Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Columbia, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $57.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
