Assistant Director Health Information Management, Privacy Officer Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Medical Records, Privacy Officer is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing all aspects of Medical Records operations. This role ensures oversight of the organization processes, guidelines, Conway Medical Center policy and state/federal regulations.
Qualifications:
Education:
A bachelor s degree in Health Information Management (Medical Records Administration) or ART with supervisory background. Licensure/Certification/Registration RHIT or RHIA required - Registered Record Administrator Certificate or Accredited Record Technician Certificate. Experience Minimum of 2 years of Medical Record experience. Leadership experience in a hospital and physician medical group is required. Duties & Responsibilities Assist in the development and implementation of clinical policies and protocols. Provide guidance and support for the medical staff. Thorough knowledge of all jobs in the Medical Record Department. Knowledge of Federal, State, Local and organizational requirements for reporting and for retention and maintenance of medical records. Strong leadership abilities, and excellent critical thinking skills. Effective communication skills and excellent working relationships with physicians. Privacy Officer must be well versed in the HIPPA Privacy Rule, Security Rule, and Breach Notification Rule.
Staff training:
Educating employees on HIPPA and ensuring compliance.
Incident Response:
Managing privacy breaches and reporting requirements. Collaborate with the administrative team to optimize patient flow and ensure operations. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Permitted uses and disclosures of Protect Health Information (PHI) and patient rights under HIPPA. Risk assessments and mitigation strategies. Understands agrees to support the philosophy of Conway Hospital. Policies and procedures for privacy and security compliance. Responsible for seeing that timely and accurate accumulation of data is done in order to ensure most appropriate assignment of DRG s. Assist physicians to provide adequate documentation of medical records to expedite communication of information to the business office for billing. Provides supervision of personnel in the department, ensuring that all work required with the department is completed in a timely manner, and that all equipment is in working order. Completes other duties as assigned by department leadership.
