This position is ideal for a procurement professional with strong purchasing, supplier management, ERP, and production support experience. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for sourcing materials, managing purchase orders, supporting internal departments, and helping prevent material shortages that could impact production. Candidates should be highly organized, confident working with suppliers, and comfortable making sound purchasing decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The Day-to-Day:
Purchase materials, equipment, supplies, and specialized services in accordance with company purchasing procedures and regulations. Gather quotes, review bids, negotiate pricing and terms, and place purchase orders in a timely manner. Work closely with internal teams to obtain project specifications, clarify requirements, and ensure purchase requisitions are complete and accurate. Interpret and communicate purchasing procedures to departments and suppliers. Assist internal departments with requisitions, order requests, and purchasing-related questions. Proactively identify material issues, resolve shortages, and minimize production delays. Expedite orders as needed and keep internal customers informed of delivery updates or supply concerns. Partner with other departments to resolve procurement issues and reduce the impact on the production schedule. Use independent judgment and discretion within established purchasing guidelines. Support departments in evaluating goods and services to ensure expectations and requirements are met. Resolve conflicts involving materials, services, suppliers, and internal departments. Coordinate the delivery and installation of purchased items when required. Confirm that received products meet the original request, bid, or purchase order requirements. Evaluate supplier performance, reliability, quality, delivery, and pricing. Identify potential suppliers, schedule site visits when needed, and develop new supply sources. Monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned purchase orders to ensure quality and value. Support annual productivity goals through supplier cost reduction efforts.
Qualifications:
High school diploma required. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Management, Materials Management, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, material planning, production planning, or a similar supply chain role. Strong knowledge of ERP systems required. Experience with machined and electronic components preferred. Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100 standards preferred. Strong understanding of inventory control, purchasing, production scheduling, and Materials Requirement Planning systems. Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to coordinate materials and production schedules with multiple departments.

$100,000 to $110,000 per year
