PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
The Senior Buyer is a professional-level role responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and exercising independent authority over sourcing decisions that impact cost, quality, and operational performance. This position operates with substantial discretion and independent judgment on matters of significance, including supplier selection, contract negotiation, pricing strategy, and procurement planning. The Senior Buyer serves as a strategic partner to leadership, influencing purchasing decisions and driving cost efficiency across assigned categories. 1. Develop and implement sourcing strategies for assigned categories (e.g., gaming supplies, IT equipment, facilities materials, operating supplies, and contracted services). 2. Independently determine sourcing approaches, supplier selection, and procurement methods based on operational requirements and financial objectives. 3. Evaluate market trends, pricing structures, and supplier capabilities to optimize total cost of ownership and service reliability. 4. Exercise discretion in adapting strategies to address supply disruptions, demand changes, and operational priorities. 5. Independently identify, evaluate, qualify, and approve suppliers, applying professional judgment to assess risk, performance, and value. 6. Lead negotiations on pricing, contract terms, service agreements, and supply arrangements. 7. Establish long-term vendor partnerships aligned with operational and financial goals. 8. Resolve supplier disputes, service failures, and contractual issues through independent analysis and decision-making. 9. Develop and execute purchasing strategies that support the organization. 10. Exercise independent authority to make purchasing decisions and commit company resources within established thresholds. 11. Approve product substitutions, vendor changes, and sourcing adjustments based on business impact. 12. Determine procurement methods and strategies without requiring routine managerial approval. Ensure purchasing decisions align with financial targets and operational priorities. 13. Analyze spending data, cost trends, and supplier pricing to identify savings opportunities. 14. Develop and implement cost-reduction strategies across assigned categories. Present data-driven recommendations to leadership regarding sourcing, vendor performance, and budget optimization. 15. Monitor and manage category-level financial performance against established targets. 16. Collaborate with Gaming Operations, Facilities, IT, Security, Finance, and Hotel Operations to align procurement with business needs. 17. Advise department leaders on product selection, vendor utilization, and cost management strategies. 18. Influence operational decisions through procurement expertise and strategic recommendations. 19. Lead procurement initiatives that impact multiple departments or business units. 20. Ensure procurement activities comply with internal controls, audit standards, and applicable regulations. 21. Evaluate vendor agreements and sourcing practices for financial and operational risk. 22. Maintain oversight of procurement documentation and processes to support audits and compliance reviews. 23. Identify inefficiencies in procurement processes and implement improvements. 24. Develop standardized procedures and best practices for purchasing operations. 25. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement performance. 26. QUALIFICATIONS
Work Experience Required:
3-5 years of progressively responsible procurement or sourcing experience in a casino, hospitality, or similar high-volume operational environment. Demonstrated experience making independent purchasing decisions and negotiating contracts with measurable business impact.
Education:
Business Degree from an accredited college or equivalent work experience.
Other Requirements:
Understanding product terminology and supply chain requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ten Key, and standard office systems. Ability to analyze data, evaluate vendor performance, and make informed recommendations. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Professional communication and collaboration skills. Consistent attendance and punctuality.
