is a Roofing and Waterproofing Commercial Construction Company serving Northern California, Southern California, and Nevada. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects, we specialize in providing comprehensive waterproofing and roofing solutions for commercial construction. Our team is dedicated to excellence, precision, and collaboration, and we are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent-Buyer. The Purchasing Agent is responsible for sourcing, ordering, tracking, and managing roofing, waterproofing, safety, and general construction materials. This role ensures that each project receives the correct materials, in the correct quantities, at the required location and time, while maintaining competitive pricing and strong supplier relationships. The Purchasing Agent works closely with project managers, estimators, superintendents, foremen, warehouse personnel, accounting staff, and vendors to prevent material shortages, delivery delays, duplicate orders, and unnecessary costs. Key Responsibilities Review approved project budgets, estimates, material takeoffs, specifications, and purchase requests Obtain and compare supplier quotations for roofing and waterproofing materials Responsible for materials going in and out of the warehouse Coordinate with the warehouse lead Equipment purchasing & rental equipment for lease Issue purchase orders with accurate project numbers, quantities, pricing, delivery locations, and delivery dates Confirm material compatibility with project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and warranty systems Coordinate deliveries with project managers, superintendents, foremen, vendors, and warehouse personnel Track open purchase orders, back-orders, substitutions, damaged materials, and delivery discrepancies Maintain current pricing, lead-time, and availability information for commonly purchased materials Negotiate pricing, freight charges, payment terms, rebates, discounts, and return conditions Verify order confirmations against issued purchase orders Resolve quantity, quality, pricing, freight, and invoice discrepancies Maintain complete purchasing records, including quotes, approvals, purchase orders, delivery tickets, and returns Monitor project purchasing against approved budgets and report potential overruns Coordinate material returns, credits, warranty claims, and defective-product replacements Maintain supplier relationships and periodically evaluate vendor performance Support emergency purchases, while following the company's approval procedures Assist with inventory control for high-use materials, tools, equipment, and safety supplies Required Qualifications Two or more years of purchasing, construction, roofing, waterproofing, or materials-management experience Familiarity with commercial roofing and waterproofing products, terminology, and installation systems Ability to read project specifications, material takeoffs, submittals, and construction documents Strong negotiation, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, vendors, and deliveries simultaneously Proficiency with email, spreadsheets, accounting software, and purchasing or ERP systems Strong attention to quantities, units of measure, pricing, taxes, freight, and delivery details Valid driver's license, if travel to suppliers, warehouses, or job sites is required Preferred Qualifications Experience purchasing materials for commercial roofing and waterproofing projects Ability to read project specifications, material takeoffs, submittals, and construction documents Knowledge of manufacturer warranty and approved-system requirements Experience with Sage and MSOffice Established relationships with roofing and waterproofing distributors Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills Understanding of inventory control and construction cost codes What We Offer Competitive salary Paid time off and holidays 401(k) + matching Health, Dental, and Vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Stable, team‑oriented work environment
