Job Description
Your role Technical Procurement Specialist You are a detail-oriented individual with a strong work ethic who is looking to build a career in supply chain as a Technical Procurement Specialist with a leading innovator and manufacturer of Turbo Expander technology. The compensation range for this position is $97,564.00 to $149,275.15 annually depending on skill level The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus. Eligibility requirements apply. What you will own & improve 1. Ownership of the end-to-end sourcing and procurement of complex engineered parts and services, interpreting engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and quality requirements into clear RFQs, purchase orders, and supplier selections using technical, commercial, and risk-based criteria (not price-only) 2. Build and improve sourcing strategies for long-lead and critical items, including make/buy decisions, dual sourcing, risk mitigation, and continuous process improvements that reduce lead time, waste, and total cost of ownership 3. Drive supplier performance through measurable actions: On-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, lead time adherence, and corrective actions 4. Collaborate with suppliers on manufacturability improvements, cost reduction opportunities, and lead time reduction 5. Risk mitigation strategies for long-lead and critical components, including dual sourcing and recovery planning 6. Strong cross-functional alignment between Engineering, Quality, Operations, Projects, and Sales To succeed, you will need What you already know How to interpret and procure to engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and quality plans Manufacturing processes for machined parts, castings, forgings, fabricated assemblies, pressure-containing components, and rotating equipment How to analyze supplier quotations beyond price, including scope, compliance, inspection requirements, and commercial risk Negotiation techniques for pricing, lead time, and commercial terms on long-lead engineered items Working in engineer-to-order / high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments Use of ERP/MRP systems and data to manage demand, supply, and execution Qualifications - Required Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical), Industrial Technology, Supply Chain Management, Business or equivalent work experience in manufacturing Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand rotating machinery components, manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, and specifications, and to evaluate supplier quotations across pricing, scope, and compliance Demonstrated technical curiosity and learning agility, comfortable engaging with engineering, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ask the right questions and ensure technical and commercial alignment Strong organizational and communication skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving and multitasking in fast-paced settings with minimal supervision Team player actively helping others as needed to achieve common goals Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 25% Preferred Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., CPIM, CSCP) Supply chain experience in an engineer-to-order, make-to-order, or assemble-to-order manufacturing environment preferred Strong negotiation, supplier management, and expediting experience with long lead-time engineered parts o Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and Microsoft Office suite How Success is measured On-time delivery and schedule adherence for engineered components Reduction in total cost of ownership Supplier quality performance Shorter procurement cycle times and improved responsiveness to project and operations needs Fewer supply disruptions through proactive risk identification and mitigation Positive feedback from internal stakeholders on clarity, reliability, and technical judgment In return, we offer What you will learn (if you don't know already) Deeper technical understanding of turboexpander systems, rotating machinery, and pressure equipment How design decisions, manufacturability, and supply strategy intersect to impact cost and schedule Organizational standards such as API, ASME, and customer-specific quality expectations Stronger business judgment balancing technical risk, commercial outcomes, and delivery commitments How to influence cross-functional decisions without authority through data, clarity, and credibility About the
Team:
This role reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager and will work and collaborate as an integral part of a tight-knit and dynamic supply chain team helping to support cost-effective on-time delivery of goods and equipment.Other extended team members include:
Supply Chain Engineering, Material Handling, Logistics and Suppler Development who support a manufacturing facility that sells, designs, manufactures and services turboexpanders world-wide. Atlas Copco Mafi-Trench Company LLC is located on the beautiful Central Coast of California.
