In addition to our produce program, we maintain a comprehensive catalog of dry goods including canned products, paper goods, frozen items, and other non-perishable foodservice supplies. We are seeking an experienced Dry Goods Buyer to manage and expand this category while maintaining strong vendor partnerships and competitive market pricing. Position Overview The Dry Goods Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing a broad portfolio of dry goods products. This role requires strong negotiation skills, vendor relationship management, and market awareness to ensure consistent product availability and cost competitiveness. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and experienced in negotiating with vendors while working closely with internal teams to support sales and inventory needs. Key Responsibilities Manage purchasing for a comprehensive catalog of dry goods including canned goods, paper goods, frozen products, and other non-perishable items Negotiate pricing, rebates, and purchasing agreements with vendors to secure competitive costs Build and maintain strong vendor relationships while identifying new supplier opportunities Monitor inventory levels and forecast purchasing needs based on sales trends and demand Evaluate product quality, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations Work closely with sales and warehouse teams to ensure accurate inventory levels and product availability Identify opportunities to expand product offerings and improve margins Resolve vendor issues related to pricing, supply, or product quality Qualifications 3+ years of experience as a buyer or purchasing agent, preferably within foodservice distribution, produce distribution, or wholesale food supply Experience purchasing dry goods, canned goods, frozen items, or paper goods Strong negotiation skills and vendor management experience Excellent communication and organizational abilities Ability to manage multiple product lines and vendors simultaneously Industry vendor relationships are a strong plus but not required Comfortable working in a fast-paced distribution environment
