The Department of General Services (DGS) is seeking to hire two (2) student assistants within Enterprise Technology Solutions (ETS) within the administration unit. Under the close supervision of the Staff Services Manager I, the student will assist in providing Information Technology (IT) analysis, evaluation, and research of IT procurements. Conditions of Employment This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check: educational verification (degree, license, or official transcript) or DMV clearance. 00 per hour. Minimum Qualifications Basic understanding of IT concepts and familiarity with common software tools like Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with different departments and stakeholders. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Pursuing an information technology or technology related major. Ability to carefully review and analyze information to document findings. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Good time management and organizational abilities to handle multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently. Previous experience in an information technology position or working knowledge of typical information technology practices. Adaptability, eagerness to learn, and proactive. Preferred Qualifications Individuals who are, or have been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth or a formerly incarcerated youth as defined by Government Code section 18220 are encouraged to apply and will be given priority. Duties and Responsibilities Assist in providing IT analysis, evaluation, and research of IT procurements. Assist with intake of new requests, completing initial triage on request, initiating/validating workflows. Assist with the Information Technology Approval process, monitoring SLA's, escalating task and subprocess owners, and management as appropriate. Collaborate with ETS Management, subprocess owners, and stakeholders to complete Certification of Compliance, Statewide Information Management Manual (SIMM) 71B effectively and in a timely manner. Identify areas where the approval process can be improved. Work with the IT Approval Coordinator to implement changes. Assist with generating reports/dashboards on the status of approval requests, highlighting any delays or issues, and providing updates to ETS management. Assist with maintaining customer facing instructions on SharePoint site. Assist with maintaining all process and subprocess documentation in central repository. This should include all subprocess owners/contacts, standard operating procedures, SLA's, metrics. Physical Requirements Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
