This position is responsible for purchasing catalytic converters from suppliers, scrap yards, auto recyclers, and other sources while accurately evaluating materials, negotiating competitive prices, and maintaining strong supplier relationships. The ideal candidate has knowledge of catalytic converters, precious-metal values, automotive parts, or the scrap/recycling industry and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly detail-oriented environment. Responsibilities Purchase catalytic converters from established and new suppliers. Identify and evaluate catalytic converters based on type, make, model, serial numbers, and material composition. Research current market values for platinum, palladium, and rhodium. Accurately price converters using company pricing tools, databases, and market information. Negotiate purchase prices while maintaining profitable margins. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, recyclers, dismantlers, and other vendors. Inspect incoming converters for quality, authenticity, and condition. Maintain accurate purchasing records, invoices, and inventory documentation. Monitor market trends and changes in precious-metal prices that may affect purchasing decisions. Communicate pricing, purchasing decisions, and market updates to management. Identify opportunities to expand the company's supplier network and increase purchasing volume. Follow all applicable laws, regulations, and company procedures related to the purchase and resale of catalytic converters. Qualifications Previous experience purchasing catalytic converters, automotive parts, scrap metal, or recycled materials preferred. Knowledge of catalytic converter identification and grading is highly desirable. Strong understanding of pricing, margins, and basic mathematics. Excellent negotiation and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and make sound purchasing decisions. Comfortable using computers, spreadsheets, databases, and online pricing resources. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet purchasing goals. Valid driver's license
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
