Description:
The Prepared Foods Buyer is responsible for maintaining stock integrity, margin performance, and product freshness throughout the Prepared Foods Department. This role oversees purchasing, inventory levels, product rotation, and merchandising strategies to ensure the department remains full, fresh, and on-trend. The Buyer partners with the Team Leader, Assistant Team Leader, and Store Leadership to meet departmental goals while aligning with Plum Market's commitment to high-quality, natural, organic, and locally sourced offerings.Who you are:

6+ months of retail or foodservice experience, with knowledge of prepared foods strongly preferred. Experience with ordering, inventory systems, and margin management. Familiarity with merchandising techniques and product rotation standards. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint). Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines in a dynamic environment. Availability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours without a break. Ability to bend and stoop to grasp objects, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and push/pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs. unassisted.What you will do:
Maintain product mix and stock levels through thoughtful and efficient purchasing practices. Meet department purchasing budgets, shrink goals, and margin targets. Maintain current and accurate purchase journals and ordering tools. Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely and appropriate ordering to minimize out-of-stocks and overstocks. Collaborate with the Team Leader and other department leaders to support production planning and cross-departmental utilization of perishables. Ensure proper labeling, signage, pricing integrity, and merchandising standards are upheld. Communicate new product features, promotions, and changes with department Team Members. Analyze sales trends and adjust purchasing and merchandising strategies as needed. Uphold all food safety, sanitation, and Plum Market operational policies and procedures. Provide excellent Guest Service and serve as a department ambassador on the floor.Benefits
