03 JUN 2026 Buyer Planner Supply Chain Kailua Kona, HI Posted 1 week ago Description Summary Cyanotech is a nutraceutical world leader in the production and distribution of GMP-compliant nutritional supplements. This is a full-time, non-exempt position based at our headquarters in Hawaii and requires on-site work; remote work is not available for this role. The position is responsible for analyzing demand signals to procure direct raw materials, as well as purchasing indirect and MRO items. Responsibilities include the timely and accurate processing of purchase requisitions, purchase orders, web orders, and invoice/three-way match reconciliations in compliance with company procedures and policies. This role also provides backup support to the warehousing and logistics department, as needed. A flexible schedule is available, with the option to begin as early as 7:00 a.m.
Pay Range:
$25-$35/hr Supervisory Responsibilities This is not a supervisory position. Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Performs accurate and timely supply / Demand analysis to determine purchasing needs and timing for direct raw materials, and Indirect and MRO items.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of POs for Direct, Indirect and MRO items.
  • Responsible for daily and weekly inventory count worksheets for Direct, Indirect and MRO items and system postings in compliance with company procedures, policies, and KPIs.
  • Familiar in the use of
INCOTERMS
for purchased items and collaborates with Logistics department for the most cost-effective shipping methods with risk protection.
  • Contacts suppliers daily to expedite and maintains accurate PO delivery dates for open orders.
  • Ensures that purchases of FDA controlled items arrive with Certificates of Analysis.
  • Ensures that all applicable certifications and FDA- Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) qualifying documentation is obtained for new suppliers and new items per QC requirements.
  • Maintains all vendor records in ERP system and keeps supplier contact information updated.
  • Works with Accounting to reconcile invoice discrepancies
  • Coordinates return authorizations
  • Supports finance on forecasting and cost reporting.
  • Works with Operations team to validate location and organization of inventory, safety stock, purchasing, and understanding of inventory usage.
  • Participates in monthly inventory reporting, validation of incoming and usage variances with Operations team.
  • The position will also backup and support the warehouse as required, which will require lifting 60lb boxes, operating forklifts, preparing order shipments, and operating a truck. Other Duties
  • Performs inventory counts and leads the resolution and documentation of Material Control issues.
  • Reviews Purchasing and Inventory Control SOP for accuracy as needed.
  • Performs other duties and projects that may be assigned Physical Demands May be required to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
May occasionally be required to lift up to 60 pounds and operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet wrapping machines, and trucks, as well as prepare order shipments. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in an office environment, with occasional outdoor activity as needed to complete inventory-related duties. Qualifications
  • Associates Degree or higher in business, supply chain, or other related discipline; or equivalent combination and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in procurement, material planning, purchasing, or demand forecasting.
  • Previous purchasing and inventory control experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, including effective time management, multi-tasking, attention to detail, and demonstrated follow-through.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and telephone communication skills.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in PC-based computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
