SUMMARY:
The Buyer is responsible for procuring materials, components, and services essential for the timely and cost-effective manufacturing of industrial automation products. Working closely with suppliers, internal teams, and the Materials & Purchasing department, this role ensures materials meet quality standards, are delivered on schedule, and align with project and budget requirements.ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Source, negotiate, and purchase materials, components, and services from approved suppliers to ensure best total cost for project materials Use market research in sourcing decisions and recommendations of alternate sources of supply Work with engineering department on sourcing the highest quality components Monitor inventory levels to ensure timely replenishment and avoid shortages or overstock Create new and maintain correct item setups in Epicor Manage open orders report Coordinate product replacements and product recalls Assist in quarterly excess/obsolete inventory report reviews and negotiate with suppliers to obtain return goods authorization on excess material Communicate and support transition to a lean inventory environmentENSURE SUPPLIER PERFORMANCE AND RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
Continually follow up with suppliers to make sure they are meeting lead times Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and cost criteria Identify cost-saving opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives Resolve issues in the areas of requisition accuracy and completeness, on-time delivery, and supplier payments Resolve purchasing variances, payment terms, and invoice rectification with accountingCOLLABORATE ACROSS DEPARTMENTS FOR MATERIAL NEEDS
Collaborate with engineering, production, and project teams to understand material requirements Communicate with all necessary parties when lead times are not met or when received orders are wrong Communicate and coordinate engineering changes to in-process and in-stock inventory materials Participate in multi-functional team meetings as a representative of the Materials Management group Participate in continuous learning, professional development, and EOS Quarterly ROCK activitiesMAINTAIN COMPLIANCE AND OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirementsSKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills. High proficiency with ERP systems, EPICOR preferred and Microsoft Office Suite Analytical and detail-oriented mindset Ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to handle multiple purchase orders and vendors simultaneously Understanding of sourcing and supply strategies, materials requirement planning and inventory control techniques Knowledge of procurement best practices and supply chain principles Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills when handling supply issues or material substitutions Experience working from Bills of Materials in an Engineer To Order environment Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and cost optimization Interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across departments and suppliersQUALIFICATIONS
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in an ETO manufacturing environment with high mix-low volume components Experience with ERP or MRP systems (e.g., Epicor, NetSuite, SAP, or similar) Familiarity with industrial automation components or technical products is a plus Certification such as CPSM or CSCP is a plus, but not requiredTRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
