Job Description
Buyer As the Buyer you will be accountable for the planning, purchasing to support inventory levels, and procurement within the production operations. In addition all MRO purchasing will run through the buyer and the purchasing/Purchase Order process. The role will work both internally and externally to ensure that all elements of these inputs are covered in order to maintain efficient operation throughout the supply chain and maintain all stock levels supporting the facility's needs. This position is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, planning and scheduling the movement of packaging materials, parts, maintenance items, services, supplies, finished goods and related materials through the production and inventory process. This includes placing orders, forecasting sales, reviewing invoices, reconciling accounts, and identifying new opportunities as they arise. You must work with vendors consistently to build strong relationships, resulting in lasting partnerships and favorable deals for the operation. This position is performed on-site. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional flexibility outside of normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be required based on business needs.
What You'll Do:
Generate PO's to and build and maintain strong business relationships with third party vendorsNegotiate strong and lasting partnerships and contracts with vendorsIdentify and recommend business opportunities with a multitude of account optionsNegotiate pricing and terms of business inputs, as well as cash termsPlanning, forecasting and purchasing in order to manage inventory levels and maximize service to the customer while hitting inventory level and working capital targetsManage Purchasing of all inbound excipients and components (both hardware and packaging) needed for continuous production across all product linesSourcing third party and wholesale products as required to enhance product portfolioWorking closely with the finance and operations teams across all needsAssisting in hitting targets by achieving target stock levels, inventory turns and service levelsIdentifying project opportunities within the site or across the business removing organizational barriers to deliver continuous improvementAnalyze data and forecast requirements with vendors as well as maintain safety stocksSet-up, plan, and coordinate with vendors for accountable service and negotiate with suppliers as requiredCoordinating the receipt and shipping of all goods to maintain service metrics. Track and trace freight and inbound deliveriesMaintain and create detailed reportsData Entry and Reporting within Supply Chain for the entire siteProactively taking part in departmental meetings to ensure up to date communication is provided to the teamOther duties as required/needed to meet goals of the companyEnsure supply chain operation is fully compliant with state regulations and federal and state law and ethically compliantAssure that all operations adhere to business and industry license requirementsMaintaining strict inventory records of all materials, chemicals and equipment used in the operation and document activities by completing forms, reports, logs and records as requiredEnsuring all departmental data is accurate and audit readyUtilize only State approved excipients and packagingWork with QA on new inputs for approval with theState Regulators What You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, buying, merchandising, or supply chain management Prior experience owning product categories, vendor relationships, and purchasing decisions Experience in retail, CPG, or cannabis industry preferred Strong analytical and financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, margins, and forecasting Advanced Excel skills required (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis); experience with reporting tools or ERP systems preferred Demonstrated ability to analyze sales trends, inventory levels, and customer demand to drive purchasing decisions Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable pricing, terms, and vendor agreements Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams (Retail, Marketing, Operations) Highly organized with strong time management and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Ability to take initiative, problem solve, and make independent decisions with minimal oversight Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in purchasing, pricing, and inventory planning Ability to travel to dispensaries, vendor sites, and industry events as needed.
