Spherion Staffing & Recruiting is seeking a Procurement Buyer for a premier manufacturing client in Dakota, IL. In this collaborative role, you will take a team-based approach to source, negotiate, and procure essential raw materials and operational supplies, balancing cost efficiency with production demands.

Role Highlights Compensation:

$60,000

•$75,000/yr. (commensurate with experience)

8:00am

•5:00pm, Monday

Growth or other perks: Key purchasing leadership role with direct impact on manufacturing operations and inventory efficiency. What You'll Do Issue blanket purchase orders for manufacturing raw materials including corrugate, labels, glues, and films.

Manage vendor release schedules to ensure all production needs are met without disruption.

Monitor production schedules and forecasts to calculate raw material needs, keeping inventory values low while preventing shortages.

Procure and stock non-stock supplies, office materials, capital project equipment, and specialized manufacturing consumables.

Administer label and customer-specific component inventories, managing "about-to-expire" and expired stock to minimize waste and financial exposure.

Proactively communicate potential material shortages with procurement and operations teams, participating in key operational alignment meetings.

What You'll Bring Experience:

Minimum 3 years of purchasing or procurement experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Education:

Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).

Technical Skills:

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong hands-on competency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

Key Skills:

Demonstrated fiscal responsibility with a proven track record in negotiating pricing, delivery, and payment terms.

Analytical & Communication Skills:

Strong forecasting capabilities, detail orientation, and excellent cross-departmental communication.
