Job Description

Overview A family owned and established aerospace manufacturer and job shop is seeking an experienced Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. This position is responsible for purchasing and managing raw materials, hardware, and other services required to support manufacturing. The successful candidate will work closely with suppliers, Department Managers, Quality, and other internal departments to ensure materials and services are available when needed, meet applicable requirements, and are obtained at the best overall value. This is a hands-on purchasing position in a fast-paced job shop environment where priorities can change quickly and strong communication, organization, and follow-through are essential. For the right individual, this position offers room for professional growth and increased responsibility within our Supply Chain organization. Reports to:
Purchasing Manager, Head of Supply Chain, and CEO Responsibilities Source and purchase raw materials, metals, hardware, and components. Obtain and evaluate competitive pricing for a variety of manufacturing requirements. Prepare and issue purchase orders while ensuring applicable requirements are properly communicated to suppliers. Identify, evaluate, and assist in selecting new suppliers. Maintain strong relationships and communication with existing suppliers. Ensure purchased materials and components meet required specifications, tolerances, quality requirements, and delivery dates. Interpret engineering drawings and purchasing requirements as needed to support sourcing activities. Monitor open purchase orders and proactively follow up with suppliers regarding delivery commitments. Identify potential material or supplier delays and communicate risks to the manufacturing team. Work closely with Department Managers to resolve sourcing and delivery issues. Evaluate and monitor supplier performance, including quality and on-time delivery. Maintain accurate purchasing information within the company's ERP/MRP system. Support established purchasing procedures, quality requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives . Qualifications 3-5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing or job shop environment required. Experience purchasing metals, raw materials, mechanical components, hardware, and/or manufacturing services preferred. Previous experience working with an ERP/MRP system . JobBOSS experience is a plus. Basic ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications. Experience working within an ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 environment . Understanding of documented procedures, processes, and purchasing controls. Strong supplier sourcing, negotiation, and vendor-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and open requirements simultaneously. What We're Looking For Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Pay:
$65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
